The Hornet Still Stings: Watford Can Spoil Manchester City’s Premier League Run

Manchester City vs Watford

If you're a casual football fan, you would think that the Premier League has finally returned to normality. Manchester City have returned to the top of the English top flight, and it seems like there's no stopping Pep Guardiola from getting a back-to-back league title. However, the season doesn't end until May, and there's still quite a bit of football left to be played. Many clubs in the Premier League have impact players that can turn the game on its head if the Sky Blues aren't careful enough. And this scribe is sure that they remember just how tricky of an opponent the Hornets can be. Join the SBOBET Premier League team as we take a deeper dive into this seemingly lopsided match and study if this game is as simple as the Manchester City vs Watford odds claim it to be.

Talking Points

Can a wounded City run the marathon? It's an old sporting adage at this point: a season of professional football like the Premier League is more akin to a marathon than a sprint. Anything from injuries or a shocking defeat can turn a league-winning side into strugglers. Just ask Liverpool. Right now, City's biggest problem lies with injury problems. Injuries to Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte leave Pep with a very small pool of players to pool and deploy for the remaining three fronts they are fighting in. They almost suffered another loss when Kevin De Bruyne had to be subbed out in their scrappy win at Dean Court, but he might not be out of the squad for long. His absence will still affect the club's overall effectiveness, however.

Premier League

Fortunately, Pep has a ridiculous pool of fantastic players to choose from that can step up to the plate and perform when needed. Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are still dangerous from the wings, Ilkay Gundogan has proven himself as a capable servant of the club, and Riyad Mahrez is always hungry to prove himself and snag a starting spot with consistent performances. And we haven't even touched on the team's strikers yet. Gabriel Jesus may not be a consistent performer, but he already has six league goals in only seven starts and 15 substitute appearances. Sergio Aguero is also close to another ridiculous scoring record as he is likely to start in this match once again. As long as City play their usual game, there's no reason for the thousands of fans at the Etihad to feel afraid of their chances. Watford always look to strike big Watford aren't making as much noise in the footballing media as their hosts, but that doesn't discredit the fact that they are playing out of their skin this season. The Hornets are nowhere near the relegation scuffle as they have reached the magical 40-point threshold in February, and Javi Gracia's boys can now focus on getting as high a league position as they can. They were in the Premier League 2019 highlights for the wrong reasons recently, though: Liverpool used them as whipping boys to showcase their dominance in a 5-0 hiding. However, the gaffer was more than confident in his team's ability to bounce back, and they showed just that in an impressive showing against Leicester that spoiled Brendan Rogers' debut as the Foxes' manager. Watford are aiming for a European spot as they face Premier League champions Manchester City
Andre Gray celebrates with his team-mates after scoring against Leicester

Etienne Capoue's solid defending will be counted on if they are to snatch a point at the Etihad. Troy Deeney, Gerard Deulofeu, and Abdoulaye Doucoure must also step their game up if they want to get a positive result. Gracia would also love it if Andre Gray pulls off another late winner.

History

Manchester City and Watford haven't locked horns in the top flight that often as they weren't fixtures in the English top flight until recently. However, the 19 games that they have played together have all gone in favour of the league leaders. City won 12 of those games and only dropped points in three games. The three games Watford have won over City were all in the 1980s, and they haven't gotten better enough to add to their small tally of wins against the Sky Blues. However, their most recent meeting gave an encouraging look for the Watford faithful. They gave the defending champions quite a battle in December, and more of the same can be expected of the overachieving Hornets.

Betting Tip

??

Manchester City vs Watford Watford Asian Handicap +2.25 @ 1.95
March 10, 01:30 (GMT+8)
Of course, anyone would be stupid to bet against Manchester City at this point of the season. They still are the best team in the Premier League by leaps and bounds, and Pep Guardiola is such a master tactician that he can lead the Sky Blues to victory against the Hornets with one eye closed. However, it is important to remember that this same side struggled to comfortably win against a minnow like Bournemouth. Eddie Howe showed Javi Gracia how to frustrate the team, and the Spaniard has more in-form players compared to his English counterpart. Moreover, the absence of Fernandinho, Laporte, and De Bruyne is bound to sting his rotations. I still think that Manchester City will take the three points, but this scribe respectfully believes that the final score won't be as lopsided as one may think.

Premier League: Liverpool to Seize the Moment

Liverpool vs Burnley

When the going gets tough, the tough get going; and over the last couple of weeks things have become a little tough for Liverpool.

So long the league leaders, Jurgen Klopp’s team has just fallen behind Manchester City after a run of games where the goals have come in fits and starts, whereas earlier in the season the Reds were sweeping all before them. But the gap at the top is only one point, and it’s critical to Liverpool’s title prospects that they overcome Burnley on Sunday.

Premier League, Liverpool vs Burnley is the big Sunday lunchtime clash and Anfield will be bouncing. But the Reds need to seize the game and get a goal as early as they can, because the longer they fail to score the more the crowd will transmit their nerves to the pitch.

And that will be Burnley’s strategy, to keep their hosts quiet against huge odds, and Sean Dyche’s team has character in bucket loads.

Talking Points

Talk of pressure is no good for Liverpool

A draw with Everton last week opened the door for Manchester City to take the top spot in the Premier League but Jurgen Klopp insists that won’t make any difference to his team’s mood. There is no reason why they can’t beat Burnley if they play to their ability, but having seen a seven point lead disappear can play tricks on your mind.

The Reds are likely to be four points behind City when they kick off against the Clarets, as Pep Guardiola’s side hosts Watford on Saturday. But Klopp remains focussed on the task in hand saying: “Our only problem this week is Burnley and that's enough - we have to be really good to beat this team, Dyche is doing an amazing job. We have to be prepared for the fact it will be tough.”

Liverpool needs the Anfield crowd to roar his team on and Klopp knows Burnley will do its utmost to frustrate. Dejan Lovren and James Milner are doubtful, but despite patchy scoring form of late, the forward line still picks itself, spearheaded by Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, who is the Reds’ man in a rich vein of scoring.

Burnley’s Two Ashleys in fine form

The Clarets’ Premier League success over the past few seasons has been built on solid defence, with three England keepers on their books and the impressive centre back pairing of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski. But a recent eight match unbeaten run owed much to the form of their forward players.

Burnley’s Ashley Barnes has been slowly getting the spotlight in his previous Premier League performance Ashley Barnes celebrates after scoring a goal against Tottenham[/caption]

Striker Ashley Barnes has nine goals, six since Christmas, and his partnership with Chris Wood is a real handful. And midfielder Ashley Westwood is a dynamo with quick feet, a fine eye for a pass and six assists to his name.

Burnley’s unbeaten run was ended at Newcastle, when Westwood was ill, and the Burnley midfield lost a lot of its zip.

Liverpool won’t need reminding of the danger Burnley poses. The Clarets recently beat and outplayed Spurs at Turf Moor. And in the last meeting between these two teams, in December, Burnley was leading until well into the second half, before Klopp brought Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino on; and those two players made the difference.

This fixture last season was a 1-1 draw and a repeat of that would be a shocker for the Reds.

History

The recent history between these two sides has been a little tetchy, Klopp and Dyche having a public spat over the conduct of each others’ players in Pool’s December victory at Turf Moor.  Mee put in a hard but fair challenge on Joe Gomez which broke the young England defender’s leg, and the Reds’ boss was critical of Burnley’s physical approach. But Dyche responded in kind by saying Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge took a dive to give Liverpool an advantage. That alone makes me think the Liverpool vs Burnley highlights will be well worth a watch!

Klopp says there are no hard feelings any more, but if his team fails to beat Burnley on Sunday it might be worth asking him again…

Liverpool has won seven of the previous ten meetings and I think they’ll make it eight in 11. So let’s take a look at the latest SBOBET odds to see where the value is.

Betting Tip

??

Liverpool vs Burnley First Half Under 1.50 Goals @ 1.75
March 10, 20:00 (GMT+8)

With the Premier League 2019 odds putting Liverpool at 1.17 to win, Burnley at 14.50 and the draw at 7.00, you’d be excused for thinking that Burnley isn’t in the same league. In many ways they aren’t, but both have won two of the last six, including draws away to Manchester United.

Liverpool has had three 0-0 draws in the last four games, but in their last two home league matches they have spanked Bournemouth 3-0 and Watford 5-0. I won’t rule Burnley out, though I think a 2-0 home win looks likely and Liverpool will have to work hard for it.

Premier League: It’s the Gunners Against Ole Gunnar!

Arsenal vs Manchester United

Meetings between these sides have defined so much of the Premier League era and, while this time around the stakes are not as high as both have experienced in the past, there is still plenty at stake.

In the 200th league meeting between the sides, only one point separates the teams in fourth and fifth position with both striving for the potentially lucrative carrot that fourth spot holds – a place in next season’s Champions League.

In the week in which Manchester United produced magic in Paris to reach this season’s quarter-finals, it’s back to the bread and butter of league action and a contest which is no less important.

Arsenal, meanwhile, had a night to forget in their own European encounter but, again, that first leg defeat will count for little when this kicks off at the Emirates Stadium.

Talking Points

There’s a certain irony that, after their December clash at Old Trafford, the first meeting since 1986 in which neither the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson nor Arsene Wenger had been involved, there is now another new incumbent in the United hotseat.

Both new men in charge are doing pretty well.

Unai Emery has generally lifted spirits at Arsenal. Despite not strengthening greatly from the squad he inherited from Wenger last summer, they do seem to have found a new spark at times, albeit they remain suspect mentally and defensively on occasions.

Manchester United still claims fourth spot on Premier League table over Arsenal
Unai Emery calls on big Arsenal performance to take down Manchester United off fourth place

Had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not seen a late penalty saved by Hugo Lloris in last week’s North London derby, it would be Arsenal, not United, sitting in fourth place.

Their 1-1 draw at Wembley did, however, show the tactical talents of Emery and he will be keen to guide his side back to winning ways.

The Gunners will be without the suspended midfielder Lucas Torreira, sent-off deep in stoppage time in that game. As well as long-term absentees Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin.

United are in the midst of an injury crisis with no fewer than 10 players (including the suspended Paul Pogba) absent, a factor which made their midweek victory in France even more remarkable.

Pogba will be back this weekend, while Anthony Martial may be also fit to return.

Both men played a key part in United’s cup triumph at Arsenal six weeks ago, and their inclusion would give interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a major boost.

United have won all nine away games they have played since Solskjaer was appointed in mid-December. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 14 home league games, winning 12 of them including the last eight.

Something has to give.

This will be one to watch!

History

This will be the third clash between the clubs in as many months.

In early December, they shared four goals at Old Trafford in a match Arsenal were unfortunate not to win.

In January, United turned on the style with a clinical attacking and dogged defensive display to win at the Emirates in their FA Cup, albeit on a night when the hosts had awful luck with defensive injuries.

Last season, United enjoyed a memorable league double over Arsenal with a 3-1 victory in this corresponding fixture – a match in which David De Gea was magnificent – and a 2-1 home win against a weakened Arsenal team in the closing stages of Wenger’s reign.

These two teams have met 53 times in the Premier League era, with United leading 24-13 in terms of victories. There have been 16 draws.

Overall United have won 99 of their clashes with Arsenal winning 82 and 48 draws.

Betting Tip

??

Arsenal vs. Manchester United Asian Handicap Man Utd 0.00 @ 2.26
March 11, 12:30(GMT+8)

Arsenal are favourites on home soil against a United side expected to be drained following their midweek exertions.

It’s worth remembering, of course, that Arsenal played 24 hours after United.

1X2 odds have the Gunners @ 2.38 and United @ 2.89.

The draw is offered @ 3.30.

La Liga

A repeat of the 2-2 draw in December will payout @ 11.00 with correct score, while 1-1 is available @ 6.40.

These games produce goals more often than not and total goal 2-3 @ 2.00 and total goal 4-6 @ 2.82 have a real appeal.

Over 3.00 goals comes in @ 2.13.

In contrast, correct score 0-0 is available @ 14.50 and total goal 0-1 @ 4.40. The last time the sides played out a goalless draw was in February 2014 at the Emirates.

If Asian Handicap betting is your preferred route, look at the -0.50 Arsenal @ 2.38.

Premier League: Super Sterling Stars as Champions Overcome Controversy

Manchester City 3-1 Watford

Raheem Sterling will rightly take the plaudits after this fixture.

His hat-trick won the Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium to ensure Manchester City maintained their advantage at the top of the table.

There was no doubt they deserved their advantage, either – a quick watch of the Premier League 2019 highlights will show that.

However, SBOBET followers will know this match changed on a decision which proved highly controversial.

Less than a minute of the second half had elapsed when a ball was knocked onto Sterling who was in an offside position as he finished with aplomb.

After much discussion between the linesman (who had flagged) and referee, the goal was given after Paul Tierney ruled Watford full-back Daryl Janmaat had knocked the ball onto Sterling before he shot.

Yet, surely Janmaat only made the challenge because Sterling was offside in the first place?

It’s only hoped that the introduction of VAR next season will ensure there can be no doubt about these decisions (not that I’m overly confident).

Highlights of the game

From the outset, Watford’s game plan was probably obvious and made total sense.

Expect to defend in numbers and, on the rare occasions they had the ball, counter-attack.

Boss Javi Garcia, managing his 50th game for the Hornets, kept the in-form skipper Troy Deeney (with five Premier League goals and three assists in nine games this calendar year) and Gerald Deulofeu on the bench as if to confirm those tactics.

For 45 minutes, it worked.

David Silva went close with an early header, while Sergio Aguero (with 10 goals in seven appearances against Watford) should have opened the scoring with a free header on the half-hour, but the plan did its job as the reigning champions came up against a sea of green.

Four minutes into the second half, and it was game over.

First, Sterling converted after Aguero had chested Ilkay Gundogan’s lofted ball into his path, and the goal was given after initially being disallowed for offside.

Watford players are left disappointed with their 3-1 defeat against Manchester City in recent Premier League clash
Watford players complain after Raheem Sterling's offside has been overruled during their Premier League clash against Manchester City

Then, with Watford seemingly stunned by the decision, City took full advantage.

This time, Silva and Riyad Mahrez combined for Sterling to have the most straightforward of finishes.

Just before the hour, Silva showed his class again with a pinpoint pass, and Sterling’s feet were too quick for his markers as he completed his hat-trick.

As shell-shocked and as hard done to as Watford must have felt, they deserved credit for keeping going and, with their first touches, subs Deeney and Deulofeu made an instant impact.

A long kick from Ben Foster was flicked on by Deeney, and the young Spaniard coolly reduced the arrears.

They never went close again, however, as City saw the game out to extend their lead to four points at the summit.

Job done – with a little bit of help from the referee.

Key statistics

Deulofeu’s goal, 17 seconds after coming on, was the quickest by a substitute in the Premier League since October 2014, when Sammy Ameobi scored after eight seconds for Newcastle versus Spurs.

City have never lost a Premier League game against Watford (won eight, drawn two), winning the last eight in a row by an aggregate score of 25-4.

In all competitions, Watford have lost their last 10 meetings with Manchester City and are winless in 14 since a 1-0 home victory in the second tier in March 1989.

The last Hornets boss to beat City away from home was the late Graham Taylor, who masterminded a 2-1 success in April 1987.

City have won 10 of their last 11 league games, including the past six in a row.

City have earned 45 of the 48 points available to them in home games this season, losing only against Crystal Palace in December.

Aguero has ended on the winning side in each of the last 25 league fixtures he has started at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 30 goals.

The Hornets have suffered 13 successive league defeats away to the established top-six teams since a 2-1 win at Arsenal in January 2017.

They have now also lost all 10 of their Premier League matches against sides starting the day top, conceding 29 goals.Top of Form

What’s next?

The Premier League 2019 betting odds may change a few times between now and when City are next in league action.

It’s three weeks until they meet Fulham.

This week, they entertain Schalke with a 3-2 first-leg advantage in the Champions League. Next weekend, they travel to Swansea City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Watford also have a FA Cup last-eight tie to contend with.

They host Crystal Palace a week today (March 16) before travelling to Manchester United on March 30 in the Premier League.

Premier League: It’s Advantage Arsenal and Unlucky 13 for United in top-Four Race

Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United

Gunners, 2; Ole Gunnar, 0.

In the 200th league meeting between the sides, this Premier League clash – with so much history behind it - was evenly contested and still in the balance until a poor decision to award a penalty 21 minutes from time.

Once that was converted, Arsenal had daylight and leapfrogged their opponents into fourth place.

How crucial this result will become remains to be seen but, for now, at least, it’s advantage Arsenal.

Highlights of the game

Unsurprisingly, there was little between sides who came into the game separated by one point with both striving for the potentially lucrative carrot that the fourth spot holds – a place in next season’s Champions League.

The sides had already shared four goals earlier in the campaign, and another closely contested encounter was expected by SBOBET fans.

Both sides, boosted by the result earlier in the day at Stamford Bridge, welcomed back key players from their midweek encounters.

Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba’s return strengthened United’s midfield with Anthony Martial deemed fit enough to be on the bench, while Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to the home side’s starting line-up.

There was a frenetic pace from the outset with a number of dangerous balls flashing across the face of both goals.

Chasing a seventh consecutive away league win, a feat they last achieved in 1993, Manchester United hit the woodwork twice in the first 20 minutes.

First, the in-form Romelu Lukaku hit his shot into the ground and off the top of the crossbar from Luke Shaw’s inviting delivery.

Then Brazilian midfielder Fred then saw a drive from the edge of the box thud against the post and away to safety.

By that time, Arsenal were in front thanks to a superb strike.

Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka doesn’t score many goals, but they tend to be special when he does.

This was no exception as he took aim, and his piledriver swerved past the helpless David de Gea – one of the Premier League 2019 highlights.

Alexander Lacazette may have doubled the hosts’ lead, but his shot was blocked by Chris Smalling. Marcus Rashford played in the powerful Lukaku who held off two defenders and rounded Bernd Leno before the German stopper did well to recover.

United threatened again before the break when Pogba, Lukaku and Diogo Dalot split open the home defence, and it took a crucial challenge from Xhaka to deny Rashford as he lined up a shot.

Into the second half and United had the edge.

Leno stopped Lukaku when he should have scored, and Rashford went close with a free-kick before he was stopped by the German goalkeeper.

There was also some dogged defending from Laurent Koscielny on his 250th Premier League appearance.

Jonathan Moss has given a penalty kick for Aubameyang that led to Arsenal's Premier League win over Manchester United
Referee Jonathan Moss gestures to a Manchester United player during their Premier League clash against Arsenal

Then the pivotal moment came. Lacazette easily went to ground under a challenge from Fred, and referee John Moss incorrectly awarded a spot-kick.

Aubameyang converted and the Premier League 2019 betting odds, and the race for the top four had taken another twist.

Lacazette should have made it three after Victor Lindelof misjudged the bounce of the ball.

If Rashford had put his header either side of Leno in stoppage time, instead of straight at the keeper, there may have been a nervous final few moments for Arsenal.

But the north Londoners had the points, and interim United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unbeaten league record (won 10, drawn two) since being appointed in December was finally over.

Key statistics

Ten of Arsenal’s 14 Premier League victories over United have been in games played on a Sunday.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 15 home league games (won 13, drawn two), winning the last nine.

Their three defeats in the previous 42 top-flight matches at the Emirates Stadium all came against the two Manchester clubs: two versus City, one against United.

Arsenal have earned 41 Premier League points at home this season, a tally exceeded only by City’s 45.

The Gunners have taken 12 points from nine games against established top-six rivals this season (won three, drawn three, lost four). They earned just six points in total in such matches last term.

UEFA - Champions League

Unai Emery has become the first Arsenal boss to avoid defeat in his first two top-flight meetings with United since George Swindin in 1958-59.

This was Chris Smalling’s 200th Premier League appearance for the club. He also played 13 times in the division for Fulham.

What’s next?

It’s the second leg of Arsenal’s Europa League last 16 tie on Thursday (March 14). They trail Rennes 3-1 from the first leg.

Arsenal are then next in action on April 1 at home to Newcastle in the Premier League.

Likewise, United have one more game before the international break.

They travel to Wolves next weekend in the FA Cup quarter-final before hosting Watford in league action on March 30.

Premier League: Liverpool See Off Battling Clarets

Liverpool 4-2 Burnley

Liverpool climbed to within a point of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with a home win against struggling Burnley.

Two goals each for Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were enough to see off Sean Dyche’s Clarets after Ashley Westwood had given the visitors a shock lead and Johann Berg Gudmundsson had pulled another goal back.

With Liverpool at 1.17 to win this game among bookies like SBOBET, the result was no surprise. Despite having long periods of possession, the Reds didn’t have it all their way. It was a big win for Jurgen Klopp’s side; while the Premier League 2019 betting odds still favour City, his team is right in the hunt.

Highlights of the game

Ashley Westwood is delighted after scoring his Premier League goal at six minute
Ashley Westwood celebrates scoring Burnley's first goal with Dwight McNeil

Klopp wanted to see a reaction from his players after drawing a blank against Everton in a goalless Merseyside derby last week. But the game couldn’t have started any worse for the Reds as Burnley went ahead on just six minutes. Joel Matip headed behind for a corner to the Clarets, and when Ashley Westwood swung it over, James Tarkowski seemed to impede Alisson who stayed rooted to the spot as the ball sailed into the net off the far post.

While they dominated the ball as expected, the Reds didn’t look too threatening in the early stages. But then, the recalled Roberto Firmino took advantage of some poor Burnley defending to draw level. Mo Salah crossed from the bi-line, and Tom Heaton and Tarkowski made a mess of their chance to clear, giving the Brazilian an easy job to poke the ball home.

Anfield breathed a big sigh of relief.

And there was more relief to come just ten minutes later as the Reds took the lead. The ball bounced around the Burnley box and Charlie Taylor put in a good tackle on Salah, but the ball ricocheted to Sadio Mane who curled a beauty into the corner to make it 2-1.

The wind began to pick up, which is never a good sign for Liverpool, and there was little in the way of goalmouth chances for the remainder of the half. Burnley’s biggest attacking threat is in the shape of tough guy Ashley Barnes, who had nine league goals coming into this game but hadn’t seen much of the ball.

Liverpool had plenty of possession at the start of the second half without creating much, Salah curling a shot just over the bar. But just as Burnley started to work their way into the game, Liverpool struck again with a little help from the Clarets. Taylor again made a superb tackle to thwart Salah, but the ball squirted out to Firmino who tapped home his second.

Mane should have made it four, but when he slid in to meet a cross from the deep he somehow hit the bar from six yards out. And the home crowd got the jitters again when Burnley pulled a goal back; substitute Johann Berg Gudmundsson finished off a rare piece of good play from the Clarets.

But all those nerves disappeared again when the home side broke away and Mane rounded Heaton to make it four deep into stoppage time.

Key statistics

When yesterday’s Premier League 2019 results came in, the pressure was back on Liverpool after Manchester City beat Watford 3-1 to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League. But they did the business today and are still in the hunt for a first title in 29 years.

Sadio Mane has now scored 50 goals in 109 appearances for Liverpool and has been on target in six consecutive home games.

The Reds are now unbeaten in 36 home games and have won eight of the last 11 meetings with Burnley. There is a small consolation for the Clarets: the opening goal was the first Liverpool had conceded in over 500 minutes of football, and they managed to breach the hosts’ defence again.

What’s next?

Next up for Liverpool is the Champions League and an away second leg fixture at FC Bayern, where Klopp believes his team starts with a big disadvantage, having had a tough match to play today while Bayern has had an extra day off.

Burnley have two home games to come in either side of the international break with Leicester City and Wolves the visitors to Turf Moor. The Clarets will be targeting those games as good chances to get back to winning ways. After an eight-match unbeaten run, they have slumped back into trouble with three defeats. They are just two points above the drop zone with eight games remaining.

Premier League: Liverpool target the West End Boys

Fulham vs Liverpool

After a great week in Europe, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool now heads to West London to take on Fulham in yet another crucial Premier League clash.

Sat on the banks of the River Thames in an affluent part of the Capital City, Craven Cottage has the title of the most picturesque ground in English football. But the title chasers aren’t going there to admire the view; they are after another three points as the race at the top of the league heats up. Our Premier League 2019 predictions have long since said this is a two horse race, and with Spurs faltering that is exactly what it has become.

Now a single point behind Manchester City, the Reds have a chance to leapfrog the leaders who are engaged in FA Cup activity this weekend. And they come up against a Fulham side in the last chance saloon, after a shocking run of form has left the hosts 13 points from safety with just eight games to play.

Talking Points

UEFA - Champions League

Sadio’s the man for Liverpool

The Reds have an array of attacking talent that other teams could only dream about; and when one of their strikers has a quiet time, another picks up the pace.

Sadio Mane has reached 50 goals in his Liverpool career and has now scored 16 league goals this season. He is just one behind last season’s Premier League top scorer, Mo Salah, who has been quieter of late. But these two, alongside the ever dangerous Roberto Firmino are sure to guarantee goals.

Klopp has worked hard to bring his defence up to his team’s attacking standards. Virgil Van Dijk has a growing number of admirers who hold the Dutch centre back up as the best defender in the world.

If there is any hope for Fulham this weekend I just wonder how much Liverpool’s exertions in Munich have taken out of Klopp’s side. FC Bayern was surprisingly poor on the night and Liverpool took advantage. And now the Reds have a great draw for the quarter finals against FC Porto who beat Roma in the Round of 16. Keep an eye out for the SBOBET tips on that game.

But they will be without midfielder Jordan Henderson against Fulham, after he limped off in the victory over Bayern.

A must-win for Fulham

It isn’t often that a team outside the Premier League top six would say that a home game against Liverpool is a must-win, but that’s a reflection of just how desperate Fulham’s plight really is.

The Cottagers have had a dreadful season on their return to the top flight, spending heavily and getting no return. They are now on their third manager after Scott Parker replaced the sacked Claudio Ranieri.

Fulham caretaker manager Scott Parker hopes to halt Liverpool in going back to the top of the Premier League table
Fulham players during the warm up before the match

He’s had a baptism of fire, losing games against Chelsea and Leicester City, but he hasn’t given up hope, saying: “I believe we can stay up, in this league I see the quality in this team but I know and understand it will be very difficult.

We have some very good footballers and they have a chance, at the weekend, to prove how good they are."

Well you have to admire his optimism!

Parker does have some good players but as a team they don’t seem to be good enough for the top flight. Aleksandar Mitrovic is top scoring for the Cottagers on ten goals, while former Chelsea star Andre Schurrle brings some quality to the team and has weighed in with six goals. Calum Chambers is a talent at the back and will likely move on in Fulham goes down as expected.

History

The Reds got back to winning ways in the league with a 4-2 win over Burnley last week, but the Clarets’ kamikaze defending did give Klopp’s team a helping hand.

Fulham has a worse defence than Burnley and so Mane and co will be licking their lips. Liverpool leads the head to heads by 17 wins to six, and in the most recent meeting the Reds beat Fulham at Anfield, thanks to goals from Xherdan Shaqiri and Mo Salah.

The Cottagers’ Premier League 2019 results have been simply catastrophic; they have lost their last six and all the evidence points to that soon becoming seven. They haven’t won in five attempts against Liverpool, while the Reds are unbeaten in five away games.

Betting Tip

??

Fulham vs Liverpool First Half over 1.50 goals @ 2.28
March 17, 22:15(GMT+8)

Liverpool is at 1.25 to win this game with the draw at 5.40 and a Fulham win at 12.50, massive odds for a home team in the same division as its opponent.

There may be a shock if Liverpool is tired after its Champions League exploits and if Parker can get the best out of his team…but I doubt it! And I’m pretty sure we won’t have to wait long for goals.

Premier League: Can Toffees Lift Goodison Gloom?

Everton vs Chelsea

It’s seven games and more than two months since Everton last won at home.

In that time, they have drawn three games, including the recent Merseyside derby, and lost four.

The Toffees have also won only one of the last 10 Premier League encounters (drawn three, lost six).

Boss Marco Silva hardly needs any SBOBET pundit to tell him that is not good enough for a club of Everton’s stature.

A win against the 2017 champions, though, would go some way to lifting spirits amid the Goodison Park gloom.

Europa League

Talking Points

So Premier League 2019 news does not make great reading for the Merseysiders.

Everton have lost four of their last six league games, have not beaten one of the established top-six sides in the league since January 2017 - drawing seven and losing 18 – and have failed to score any of their last five league matches against Chelsea.

The good news for home fans is surely this has to change?

Silva will also demand a reaction after they let slip a two goal lead at Newcastle last time out – a defeat which angered the Portuguese manager who confronted the official Lee Mason at the full-time whistle, for which he has been subsequently charged by the Football Association.

Although he is likely to select him for his 100th Premier League appearance, Silva will also expect more from his goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after his erratic showing in that game attracted intense media scrutiny and prompted England boss Gareth Southgate to jump to his defence.

Pickford was fortunate to escape a red card for conceding a penalty, which he then saved, parried a long range shot which led to Newcastle’s equaliser and appeared to be distracted by abuse from the home fans who took delight in baiting the former Sunderland keeper.

There will likely be a reunion at Goodison Park.

The talented Kurt Zouma, who was prevented from fulfilling his potential at Stamford Bridge due to injury, is ineligible against his parent club but Ross Barkley will come up against his boyhood club – where he spent 14 years of his life - for the first time at the place he called ‘home’.

Seamus Coleman is set to return after illness and Leighton Baines is in contention after a back issue but Phil Jagielka is an injury doubt.

Gonzalo Higuain could return to contention for Chelsea's Premier League trip to Everton
Everton drew 0-0 with Chelsea in the reverse fixture

For Chelsea, Gonzalo Higuain could be available again after missing the midweek Europa League trip to Dynamo Kiev with illness.

The likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, and Eden Hazard, who were rested for that match, are set to return.

Hazard has been directly involved in 24 of Chelsea’s 50 Premier League goals this season (13 goals, 11 assists), the highest ratio in the division.

Despite coming under recent criticism, the team has 57 points after 29 Premier League matches, four more than they had at this stage of last season under Antonio Conte.

They have also had spells of misfortune, hitting the woodwork 19 times, more than any other side in the top flight.

Indeed, Marcos Alonso and Willian have both hit the woodwork six times each.

Before you consider the Premier League 2019 betting odds, however, just think of a few more pointers.

Chelsea may have won three of their last five league matches but they have lost three of their last four away games in the Premier League, conceding 12 goals along the way, and have kept only one clean sheet in their last nine away league matches, in a 1-0 triumph at Crystal Palace in late December.

Moreover, some players will have had little time to recover from their trip midweek European exertions.

Time for Everton to make amends?

History

The past two league meetings have ended 0-0, including in November when Everton put up a really spirited resistance at Stamford Bridge. Only four fixtures in Premier League history have finished goalless in three consecutive games.

Overall, Chelsea have a total of 72 victories compared to 54 Everton wins and 54 draws.

Betting Tip

??

Everton vs Chelsea 1X2 draw @ 3.35
March 18, 00:30(GMT+8)

Chelsea start as firm favourites, priced 1X2 @ 1.97 with Everton adrift @ 3.85.

If another tight, low scoring affair is expected, you can get odds on under 2.25 goals @ 2.21, total goal 0-1 @ 3.40, total goal 2-3 @ 1.95 and correct score 0-0 @ 10.00.

The Double Chance Everton or Draw @ 1.77 certainly appeals to me, as does Asian Handicap Everton +0.25 @ 2.28 or Asian Handicap Chelsea -0.75 @ 2.29.

Premier League: Liverpool Pass a Tough Test at the Cottage

Fulham 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League on Sunday afternoon thanks to a hard fought 1-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The hosts are fighting for their Premier League survival, and after Ryan Babel had equalised a Sadio Mane opener it took a pate penalty for Liverpool to take all three points.

New Fulham head coach Scott Parker was talking his side up before the game, saying they could still pull off a survival miracle, but with problems keeping a tight defence they were always up against it against Liverpool. But it wasn’t easy for the Reds and Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to take the points they needed to keep pace with title favourites Manchester City.

Highlights of the game

Former Liverpool striker Ryan Babel joined the Cottagers in the January window though he hasn’t really sparked the hoped for revival. But he was lively in the opening exchanges of this game, running at the Liverpool defence and, after playing a smart one-two, had a shot charged down.

After a bright start the home crowd became a little edgy, knowing full well that while Fulham desperately needed a win, they were bound to be in for a tough afternoon. The pre-match Fulham vs Liverpool betting tips bore that out; with few pundits backing a shock home win at odds of 12.50.

And on 25 minutes the Cottagers’ task became so much harder, when Roberto Firmino jinked down the left and pulled the perfect ball back for Mane to fire home from the centre of the penalty area. He’s in a rich vein of form and that put the Senegalese striker level on 17 goals with Mo Salah.

The Cottagers failed to upset Fulham vs Liverpool betting tips
Ryan Babel celebrates scoring an equaliser against Liverpool

Liverpool were having quite some joy down the left flank and when wing back Andy Robertson worked his way into a shooting position keeper Sergio Rico had to make a good save from a tight angle. Babel then created a good chance at the other end, beating Trent Alexander- Arnold before pulling the ball back for Tom Cairney, but the Fulham skipper fired over the bar.

The Reds had bossed the first half possession but only a single goal behind Fulham was just about still in the game, though top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic was getting no change at all out of Virgil Van Dijk.

Georginio Wijnaldum had a good chance to double the lead shortly after the break when Robertson floated a nice chip over, but his header flew over the bar from point blank range.

Liverpool pushed forward in search of the second goal but Fulham hadn’t given up and had the ball in the visitors’ net, but Floyd Ayite was offside when he headed past Alisson. And then on 67 minutes the Liverpool keeper was called on to make his first save, getting down well to stop Anguissa’s low drive.

Mane came within inches of doubling Liverpool’s lead, getting his head to a corner but it crashed off the bar, and then the Reds’ worse fears were realised when Fulham drew level thanks to a defensive howler. As the ball flew over Van Dijk’s head he beckoned for Alisson to collect and then headed it towards his hesitant keeper and Babel nipped in to challenge and then poke the ball home.

Alisson and Van Dijk won’t be keen to watch that one on the Premier League 2019 highlights!

But, much to their relief, the Reds were back in front on 81 minutes when Fulham’s defensive frailties were exposed again. Rico saved well from a fierce Salah drive, but as Mane tried to reach the rebound the Fulham stopper pulled him back and the referee pointed to the spot.

Premier League: Sadio Mane gave Liverpool a first half-lead
Sadio Mane scored his seventh goal in five games of Liverpool

James Milner had only been on the pitch for ten minutes but he’s the man for the big moment; and he shot straight down the middle as Rico dived.

Key statistics

With skipper Jordan Henderson out injured, Klopp started with the same eleven players that beat Burnley last week and they did the job; just.

It all means that Liverpool returns to the top of the league, but poor Fulham remain 13 points from safety.

Sadio Mane’s opener was his seventh goal in five games and he’s now joint top league scorer for the Reds.

But Fulham have lost their last seven league games, and all 11 encounters they’ve had with top six sides.

What’s next?

This was a potential banana skin for Liverpool in a league where there are no easy games. The SBOBET Premier League 2019 looks like it could well go down to the wire. Next week is the international break and then Liverpool has a crunch match at home to Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino’s team has fallen off the pace in the title race but are still highly dangerous customers.

Parker’s Fulham must keep on battling until they are mathematically relegated but it doesn’t get any easier for them. The next visitors to Craven Cottage are…Manchester City!

Premier League: Chelsea Come Unstuck by The Toffees

Everton 2-0 Chelsea

There is a long-held saying in football which many SBOBET fans will not have heard of.

It was invented long before the Premier League was established but remains as true today when first uttered.

‘Fail to take your chances and it will come back to haunt you’.

Now I don’t know who was first responsible for making the point but this encounter was a prime example.

For when the Premier League highlights are compiled, Chelsea will feature in probably more stand-out moments than Everton but it is the Merseysiders who have the points.

The Premier League betting odds on who will claim a top four spot have taken yet another twist.

Highlights of the game

From the first whistle it was clear Chelsea weren’t going to get a warm welcome. Or rather Ross Barkley, a boyhood Evertonian, wasn’t on his first return to his former club following his £15 million transfer in January 2018.

He was handed a place in the starting line-up, while the Toffees namedan attacking line-up with Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all included.

Chelsea started on fire and could easily have been two goals to the good.

Jordan Pickford, making his 100th top flight appearance, kept out Eden Hazard after fine play by Marcos Alonso.

Then Gonzalo Higuain fed the Belgian whose shot hit the post before the ball was worked to Higuain almost immediately, only for Pickford to produce a smart save.

Although both keepers were tested, there was little else to write home about in terms of clear chances but the visitors were clearly the better side.

Pedro went close just before the break and then did see an effort find the net but was offside.

The past two league meetings had ended 0-0, most recently in November, so could there be another one?

Only four fixtures in Premier League history had finished goalless in three consecutive games.

At the break there was always the feeling, Maurizio Sarri’s men may rue missed chances, whereas Everton – who needed to lift the gloom after failing to score in their last five league matches against Chelsea - surely would improve.

There was to be an immediate answer.

Andre Gomes’ curling shot from the edge of the box called Kepa Arrizabalaga into action and, moments later, the Toffees had the breakthrough.

Arrizabalaga did well to keep out Calvert-Lewin’s header but Richarlison was on hand to pounce and head home from close range.

As Sarri told his men to calm themselves, Goodison roundly booed Barkley as he had to leave the fray early.

Then the key moment.

Everton shocked Premier League betting odds after winning vs Chelsea
Gylfi Sigurdsson celebrates with Everton after scoring against Chelsea

Alonso clipped Richarlison in the box and, while Arrizabalga saved Sigurdsson’s penalty, the rebound came straight out to the influential Icelander who wasn’t going to pass up the second opportunity.

Chelsea were totally frustrated, Everton totally fluent on the counter as substitute Theo Walcott - who has scored six goals in all competitions against Chelsea (finding the net at all four grounds he has faced them on until today) – nearly made it three.

That would have been harsh on the visitors who threatened a late scare when sub Callum Hudson-Odoi unleashed a stinging shot which Pickford had to push over the crossbar.

Even in stoppage time they were to be denied when David Luiz nodded a corner back across goal and substitute Olivier Giroud was stopped by Pickford.

For Everton, who had only won one of their previous six league games, a first home win in nine weeks and eight matches.

In contrast, it’s matches like this when it’s clear to see why the Blues remain the lowest scoring of the Premier League’s top six clubs with 50 goals in 30 matches.

Key statistics

This was only the second Everton win against Chelsea in 11 Premier League encounters.

This was also their first victory against one of the established top-six sides in the league since January 2017, drawing seven and losing 18.

Chelsea have lost four of their last five away games in the Premier League, conceding 14 goals in those four defeats.

The Blues have kept only one clean sheet in their last 10 away league matches, in a 1-0 triumph at Crystal Palace on 30 December.

Chelsea have hit the woodwork 20 times this season, more than any other side in the top flight.

What’s next?

Everton have only seven games remaining this season.

They are next in action at West Ham on March 30 followed by a trip to Arsenal on April 7. Five of their last seven matches are against London clubs.

Chelsea have a busier programme.

They face Cardiff a fortnight today and then host West Ham before a two-legged Europa League quarter-final against Slavia Prague, sandwiched between a return to Merseyside to face Liverpool.

Premier League: New Era for Manchester United

Manchester United vs Watford

The Theatre of Dreams has finally banished the nightmares which have engulfed the famous ground over the last few seasons, and Manchester United fans are gleefully ushering in a new era.

With the Old Trafford board just confirming that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as permanent boss on a three year deal, the United stadium will be bouncing on Saturday when Manchester United takes on Watford in the Premier League. But the Hornets will turn up with one objective, to sting the Red Devils and wipe the happy smiles off the faces of the Red Devils’ fans.

Talking Points

‘Ole is at the wheel

Tell me how good does if feel’ …so sing the Manchester United faithful, and they will be hoping it feels a whole lot better in the coming weeks. There’s only been one man dominating the Manchester United vs Watford news today and fans are wistfully recalling the baby faced assassin’s last gasp goal in the 1999 Champions League final.

‘He’s Manchester United through and through’ they tell themselves and that’s what they have been yearning for, as they have watched a procession of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho dish up a selection of often turgid football. Well they have their wish now and OGS has been handed a three year deal, having won 14 of his 19 games in charge since taking over in December.

La Liga

The Norwegian boss has rekindled the clubs’ penchant for dramatic late winners and overcoming daunting barriers. The Red Devils rolled back the clock by dumping PSG out of the Champions League with a late penalty and that alone was enough for their fans to shout ‘Ole’!

On his appointment the new boss said, “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club. This is the job I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long term.”

Music to the fans’ ears.

And Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba have enjoyed a renaissance under the new boss and are top scoring, with 12 and 11 goals. But OGS suffered his first loss at the helm in a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break, and now he’s in the hot seat for the foreseeable future the honeymoon is officially over. At odds of 1.44 he’s expected to win his first game in permanent charge.

Many Red Devils’ fans hope coach Mike Phelan will be meeting with the club imminently to discuss his next role at the club. Phelan was Sir Alex Phelan’s right hand man in the second half of the great man’s reign at Old Trafford. And those in the know insist he’s a vital cog in the machine.

Big season for the Hornets

SBOBET Premier League fans (ones like me) love an underdog; and Watford has had a superb season under the guidance of Javier Garcia.

The Hornets are in the FA Cup semi-final and are chasing a Europa League place; though how hard they should chase is up for debate when you look at Burnley’s struggles this season after their early season Europa fixture congestion.

The Hornets have a strong spine spearheaded by their talisman Troy Deeney, not the most artistic of players but neither one which any defender looks forward to facing, and he’s top-scoring with eight goals. Alongside Deeney the former Everton and Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu has added a touch of pace and guile, with a steady supply of ammunition for his captain, as well as scoring seven goals himself.

In goal Ben Foster has had a superb season and with Adrian Mariappa marshalling the defence in front of him the visitors will be hard to break down.

Watford have plenty to play for as the Premier League season comes to an end
Watford's Gerard Deulofeu reacts after missing a chance to score against Liverpool

And French midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is having another fine season at Vicarage Road, gaining many admirers and admitting his ambition is to play in the Champions League.

The Hornets gave Manchester City a good game recently and were undone by a poor offside decision which set Raheem Sterling on course for a hat-trick. They will put up a good fight as always, and are available at 6.40 to win or 4.50 to draw; with the double chance of 2.64 an attractive option for Watford fans.

History

In the last 12 matches contested between Manchester United and Watford the Red Devils have won 11 with the Hornets bagging a solitary 3-1 win back in 2016.

Manchester United hasn’t lost at home to Watford in its last five encounters at Old Trafford and has a home record of 8-5-1.

Referee Stuart Atwell may have two players in his sights. Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has picked up nine yellow cards while Watford’s Jose Holebas can beat that with an impressive ten!

So where can we find the best value when we look at the latest Manchester United vs Watford betting odds?

Betting Tip

??

Manchester United vs Watford Under 3.00 goals @ 1.80
March 30, 23:00(GMT+8)

Things are heating up in the race for a Champions League place at the top end of the league, with four teams contesting two places. The Red Devils sit just outside the top four and the whole of Salford will be willing their new permanent boss to have a winning start. They should be happy at the end of the game.

But the Hornets simply love to be party poopers and they may have a siege mentality, having been on the end of a rough decision at the Etihad. And they have no little quality to call on.

The home team will be desperate to prove the Manchester United board has made the right decision, but if they don’t score an early goal that will embolden the visitors.

Premier League: Squeaky Bum Time Starts Here!

Fulham vs Manchester City

Welcome back, Premier League.

After the final international break of the campaign, it is back to the most exciting show on earth and the start of the run-in – what Sir Alex Ferguson famously dubbed ‘squeaky bum time’.

A clash between bottom and top, with one chasing several honours and the other destined for the drop.

But is this really the SBOBET away banker most of you think it is?

Serie A

Talking Points

Certainly Fulham gave champions Manchester City’s title rivals Liverpool a scare last time out and this time the Cottagers may be boosted by the return of Andre Schurrle who has missed the last five games with a virus.

You wonder how Fulham may have fared this season had the talented Schurrle been more widely available over the past seven months.

When he was appointed caretaker manager a month ago, Scott Parker knew the task he faced down on the Thames and so it has proved.

Encouraging home displays against both Liverpool and Chelsea have given him reason to believe he could be the man to help the club bounce back to the top flight should, as it seems likely, they be relegated.

The fact remains, though, that Fulham have lost seven successive league matches and, since turn of the year, have lost 11 of their 12 games in all competitions.

They also have the worst form of any Premier League team over the last 10 matches, earning just three points and have kept just two clean sheets in the league — the lowest of any Premier League side. Just one of those has come at home.

Fulham have actually conceded 70 league goals this season, more than any other top-flight side. They have conceded at least twice in each of their last 11 league games, which is a Premier League record.

In contrast, Pep Guardiola’s side have netted 79 league goals this season, more than any other top-flight side, and the in-form Raheem Sterling has eight goals in his last four starts for club and country.

It should be an away banker as City roll into town, but we know football is not always like that.

After tests of a different kind were overcome in their last two outings – both in FA Cup and also in Europe(City have scored 13 goals in their last three games in all competitions) — Guardiola’s men are hoping to welcome back key men as they chase an unprecedent quadruple triumph.

Several big names (have they got any players who aren’t!) are training again after injury, including Kevin De Bruyne, captain Vincent Kompany, Benjamin Mendy, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and, perhaps most importantly of all, the underrated Fernandinho.

Even without some of those names,City have won their last six league games, scoring 16 and conceding two goals.

They also have the best form of any Premier League team over the last 10 matches, dropping just three points out of a possible 30.

Who is your money on?

Newly appointed caretaker manager Scott Parker believes he is the man to help Fulham to bounce back in Premier League

History

City have won the past six league meetings against Fulham and scored 10 goals without reply in their last three matches.

Indeed, it’s almost a decade since Fulham beat Manchester City - a 3-1 Premier League win at the Etihad Stadium in April 2009 when Clint Dempsey (two) and Dickson Etuhu (a former City youth player) were on target and City had Robinho and Daniel Sturridge among their substitutes.

You have to go back to September 2011 for the last time Fulham took points off City – a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage where the hosts fought back from two goals down from Bobby Zamora and an own goal after Sergio Aguero had netted twice.

Betting Tip

??

Fulham vs Manchester City Total goal 2-3 @ 2.49
March 30, 8:30(GMT+8)

After producing Premier League 2019 highlights galore so far, Aguero and company will surely relish meeting opponents who have been defeated in 25 of their last 26 Premier League matches against the established top six (drawn one), including all 11 this season, and have a goal difference of minus 41 - the worst in the top four divisions of English football.

Unsurprisingly then, Premier League 2019 betting odds are one-sided beyond.

1X2 City @ 1.13 and 1X2 Fulham @ 20.00 are as wide as any I’ve seen in recent years.

Even the draw is offered @ 7.40.

Asian Handicap has City -2.50 @ 2.03 and over 3.75 goals at 1.98 which also shows how this one is expected to go.

Premier League: Great Teams Become Winners

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

After a weekend of international football the Premier League title race is back on, and there’s a huge game at Anfield as title chasing Liverpool hosts Spurs on Sunday.

It’s not make or break for Jurgen Klopp’s team. But with Manchester City clicking through the gears anything other than a win could be a devastating blow. And at such a big moment in the title race Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs would not exactly be Klopp’s first choice as an opponent.

The visitors aren’t in the best form but they have a team dripping with talent and are always capable of beating the best.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to Saturday’s Premier League 2019 results if I was a Liverpool fan as, with Manchester City visiting almost doomed Fulham, there is unlikely to be good news from Craven Cottage. We’ve been pretty consistent with our Premier League SBOBET tips this season, pointing to a two horse race between Liverpool and the Sky Blues from very early in the campaign.

Liverpool should only worry about what it can influence. The Reds have the hallmarks of a great team, but they need to win the league to earn that title.

Talking Points

No player has scored more Premier League goals in 2019 than Liverpool's Sadio Mane
Liverpool's Sadio Mane celebrates after scoring his side's opening goal

Super Sane

Klopp’s boys will start the game as hot favourites and that’s in part down to the form of one of their famed front three, Sadio Mane. The Senegalese striker has been in superb form, having scored six goals in the last four games in all competitions, and he has taken up the baton during a dry spell for Mo Salah.

Last season’s Premier League top scorer is tied on 17 goals with Sane, along with Spurs’ Harry Kane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as they participate in a five man race with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero who is one ahead on 18. But the momentum is with Sane, as he has improved his ability to score with both feet and head to add to his scintillating pace.

Liverpool’s tally of 76 points from 31 games would usually see them comfortably ahead at the top of the table, but with a race to the finish line about to start the Reds must push on.

Pochettino’s problem

Spurs have fallen off the pace at the top of the league and must now concentrate on securing a top four place. A run of one point from four games, starting with a defeat at Burnley, has cost Pochettino’s side dearly.

There were plenty of worried Spurs fans at the turn of the year when skipper Harry Kane and Dele Alli suffered injuries. But Heung-Min Son stepped up when his captain was injured and quickly reached 11 goals for the season, but the balance of the team has shifted again and the results have tailed off.

Pochettino can’t leave his captain out; so he needs to find a way of winning again with him in the side. If Spurs fall to another loss at Anfield then he’ll come under more pressure, as fifth placed Manchester United is just three points behind.

La Liga

The Whites have made it to the final eight of the Champions League though, and so they are a dangerous side at any time. Klopp is an admirer of his opponents, saying: “I expect the strongest Tottenham. The club is in a very positive moment with opening the stadium finally. They are really positive and they know they have to get results to secure a Champions League place.”

He’s right of course; the Whites want to be in Europe’s premier competition when they move into their brand new stadium.

History

Liverpool has changed beyond recognition since Klopp’s first game in charge back in 2015, a 0-0 draw with Spurs at White Hart Lane. His team is now a genuine title contender, while Spurs hasn’t progressed quite as far.

Of course we can’t just look to the past in making our Liverpool vs Spurs predictions but if we did then the Reds have nothing to worry about!

The last time Spurs won at Anfield was in 2011 when Luka Modric was on the score sheet. And between 1994 and 2010 Spurs failed to win at Anfield in 16 attempts.

Add to that the fact that Liverpool has lost just once in the league this season and not at home in 15 matches and you see the size of Spurs’ task.

Betting Tip

??

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Draw 1X2 @ 3.85
March 31, 23:30(GMT+8)

Liverpool at 1.59 to win and Spurs out at 5.60 does make this look like a potentially one sided match, and the history is heavily weighted in favour of a home win. Sadio Mane is in great form and if he starts to hit a dry patch Liverpool has Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino in the wings.

But for Harry Kane to have scored the same number of goals as Salah and Sane, having been out injured for weeks, tells you which the most potent striker is.

Spurs will be hurting a little at the moment, while Liverpool has shown a few signs of the jitters in recent weeks.

I think this could be one of the games of the season and a high scoring draw wouldn’t surprise me at all. Bring it on!

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)

Premier League: City Cruise on the Thames, Back to the Summit

Fulham 0-2 Manchester City

When you are embarking on what could be the most illustrious period in your club’s history, the goal is to get your job done as quickly as possible and move onto the next one.

And that is exactly what reigning Premier League champions Manchester City did down by the Thames as they took care of their relegation-bound opponents inside half an hour to return to the summit.

Yes, it must be remembered this Fulham side cost a small fraction of the near-billion pounds it cost to get Manchester City to where they are today.

Yet the attitude and character of players assembled have to be at the top level to be in with a chance of an unprecedented quadruple as the campaign reaches its closing stages.

Pep Guardiola’s squad have both in abundance, which is why they still are well on course to achieve that remarkable feat.

Highlights of the game

City may have felt that they would be in for a tough time in West London; Fulham have pushed both Chelsea and City’s title rivals, Liverpool, close over the past month.

Yet a close look at the statistics and most SBOBET followers would have said this was an away banker.

Fulham had not only lost seven successive league matches, but also 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions since the turn of the year. They have the worst form of any Premier League team over the past 10 matches, earning just three points.

They had also conceded 70 league goals this season, more than any other top-flight side. They've given up at least two goals in each of their last 11 league games - a Premier League record.

That unwanted record extended to 12 matches inside 28 minutes of their encounter with City.

The Fulham rearguard had already made two important blocks before the deadlock was broken after just five minutes.

Bernardo Silva, a player whose sublime dribbling ability is underrated by many, showed neat footwork on the edge of the area and fired low beyond Sergio Rico.

Ilkay Gundogan then tested Rico’s palms and the returning Kevin de Bruyne called the Fulham keeper into action before City grabbed a second their utter dominance merited.

They tend to pounce on the kind of mistakes that young Joe Bryan made 20 yards from goal.

In a flash, Bernardo Silva had gained possession and squared the ball to Sergio Aguero, who raced into the area and expertly poked the ball past a helpless Rico.

Aguero, rested by Argentina during the recent international break, looked fresh as he notched his 19th Premier League goal of the season. Perhaps surprisingly to many observers, it was only his fourth goal away from home.

It was once again clear to see why Fulham have kept just two clean sheets in the league, the lowest of any Premier League side.

One of the top players in the country since his arrival in English football in 2011, Aguero has been involved in more Premier League goals against newly-promoted teams than any other player with 36 (29 goals, seven assists).

Fulham needed to respond quickly if they had any chance of getting back into the game. But with top striker Aleksandar Mitrovic missing through injury, they lacked a heavyweight presence in attack.

Gundogan went close to a third before the break as City continued to control the match in the second period without overexerting themselves. Although, they will hope the sight of Aguero leaving the fray just before the hour mark is because Guardiola wanted to rest his talisman and not due to a knock.

Aguero, who has produced so many Premier League 2019 highlights singlehandedly, also has his eyes on an individual prize, too.

Just because Aguero left the fray didn’t mean City’s goal threat was weaker. Rico pushed away a fine effort from Raheem Sterling, who has eight goals in his last four starts for club and country.

Kyle Walker also crashed a shot against the post late on as City eased to victory against their spirited but limited opponents, who failed to muster a single effort on target.

A gulf in resources, a gulf in class. So the Premier League 2019 betting odds take another swing back towards City.

So much for squeaky bum time! Liverpool, it’s over to you.

Key statistics

Fulham are the first English top-flight side to concede at least two goals in 12 consecutive league games since Newcastle from May-October 1977 (14 games).

City have won their past seven league meetings against Fulham.

City have scored 12 goals without reply in their last four matches with Fulham.

It's almost a decade since Fulham beat City - a 3-1 Premier League win at the Etihad Stadium in April 2009.

City have scored in all of their last 24 matches against Fulham.

Fulham have lost 26 of their last 27 Premier League matches against the established top six, including all 12 this season. Their goal difference of -43 is the worst in the top four divisions.

City have won their last seven league games, scoring 18 and conceding two goals. They have also scored 15 goals in their last four games in all competitions.

Guardiola’s side has scored 81 league goals this season, more than any other top-flight side.

What’s next?

Scott Parker and Fulham lose to Manchester City in their recent Premier League clash
Fulham caretaker manager Scott Parker looks dejected following his squad's loss to Manchester City

Fulham have just six games remaining to save their season.

A trip to Watford awaits on Tuesday (April 2) before Everton visit Craven Cottage in a fortnight’s time.

City’s schedule is somewhat more congested. This was the first match of a spell of nine games in 29 days.

They host Cardiff in the Premier League in midweek, meet Brighton in next weekend’s FA Cup semi-finals, and then travel to Spurs in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final – the first of three clashes with the North Londoners in 11 days.

Premier League: Red Devils Take the Sting Out of the Hornets!

Manchester United 2-1 Watford

Manchester United moved back into a Champions League spot with a hard-fought win over Europa League-chasing Watford at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Premier League Manchester United vs Watford clash was quite a significant one as it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first match as United's permanent manager. And it was all smiles in the end as Solskjaer's team overcame an excellent Watford side.

The visitors dominated much of the play and had over twice as many shots as their hosts, but a professional performance from goalkeeper David de Gea took the sting out of the Hornets.

Highlights of the game

Abdoulaye Doucoure's great performance was rewarded with a last-minute Premier League goal
Abdoulaye Doucoure in action during a Premier League match between Watford and Manchester United

As the chants of “Ole, Ole, Ole” reverberated around a packed Old Trafford, Watford got down to business on the pitch. And the Hornets should have gone ahead in just the second minute.

Gerard Deulofeu picked up the ball on the right side of the box, but he took too long to cross while Troy Deeney was in acres of space and Manchester United cleared.

With the pre-match Manchester United vs Watford news dominated by the United manager, his players seemed to be out of sorts in the opening exchanges.

Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure had a great chance from around 15 yards, but he hit his shot wide. Deeney also got on the end of a Daryl Janmaat cross, but David De Gea was quick off his line to palm the ball away as Watford continued to dominate.

Deeney, who was a menace to the United defence, then outmuscled the Red Devils’ defence to nod the ball down to Roberto Pereyra, but his shot was straight at De Gea.

Then came the sucker punch. With their first shot of the game, the hosts went ahead just before the half hour. Luke Shaw won the ball in United’s half and put Marcus Rashford in with a superb ball. The young England striker did the rest, beating Ben Foster with a lovely finish.

United could have made it two just minutes later, but Anthony Martial shot too close to Foster after good work from Juan Mata.

It was so far, so good for the Red Devils at the break, but Solskjaer and the home fans would have hoped for more control of the game in the second period. United were unable to do so, though, as the Hornets started brightly once again.

Pereyra picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired low towards the corner, but De Gea tipped it round the post. Then, after good work from Doucoure and Deeney, Will Hughes bent one just wide.

The Red Devils then hit Watford again on 72 minutes, stinging the Hornets against the run of play. Anthony Martial was just about onside after a Jesse Lingard cross, and after Foster had taken the ball off his feet, he poked it home at the second attempt.

It was a little rough on the Hornets. And they were left thinking what might have been, had they taken their chances, particularly when Doucoure played a nice one-two before finishing past De Gea for a 90th-minute consolation.

This game was never easy for the Red Devils, but a narrow in was enough to take them back into the top four.

Key statistics

The Manchester United vs Watford betting odds here at SBOBET pointed to a comfortable home win. But the fact that Watford won the shot count by 20 to eight and eight to five on target tells you all you need to know about this game.

OGS has now won 15 of his 20 games in charge since taking over in December, and I bet he doesn’t care how the wins come as long as they keep on coming.

The Red Devils have now beaten the Hornets 12 times in 13 meetings. Meanwhile, Watford have now lost 17 of their last 18 away games in Manchester since beating Manchester City way back in 1987.

La Liga

What’s next?

With the dramatic win over PSG still fresh in the memory of Red Devils fans, they have another huge Champions League fixture to look forward to against Barcelona in a week and a half.

But before that, they have a tough league game away to Wolves, the team that put them out of the FA Cup. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is in the hunt for a Europa League place, but they lost to Burnley this weekend.

With the loss, Watford are now in 10th place, one point behind Wolves. They have a home match against doomed Fulham coming up, which they could use to leapfrog their rivals.

Premier League: Spurs help Liverpool to the Top!

Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool are back on top of the Premier League tonight after a dramatic late winner courtesy of Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld.

With six games to go the Reds have nudged ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand, against Cardiff City on Wednesday. City is still a firm favourite with the latest Premier League 2019 betting odds pointing to the trophy returning to the Etihad. But for now Jurgen Klopp’s side can relax after Spurs gave them a huge test.

When the earlier Premier League 2019 updates came through with the news Chelsea had grabbed a late win over Cardiff put more pressure on Mauricio Pochettino’s team, as four teams are now separated by a single point in the hunt for two Champions League places. They responded well but lady luck just wasn’t on Spurs’ side.

Highlights of the game

The Reds were almost gifted an early goal when Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris made a shocking clearance, straight to the feet of James Milner who passed to Mo Salah on the edge of the box. The Egyptian has been on a dry run of late and he fired way over.

There was a nervy atmosphere inside Anfield as Spurs began to play the ball around neatly and started to look the better side, but the roof came off the stadium when Roberto Firmino scored the opener, against the run of play, to lift the tension. Andy Robertson collected a pass on the left side and swung a tempting ball into the box, between two Spurs defenders and onto the head of Firmino who made no mistake, heading down and into the net.

Serie A

Liverpool quickly got into their stride, knowing that a one goal lead is rarely enough against Spurs and were pushing on for a second, but their keeper almost dropped a clanger to give the visitors an equaliser. As they threw a ball over the top Alisson called for it, but then looked to back out before finally getting his head to clear as Dele Alli prepared to pounce.

And Alli came so close, just after the half hour, with a dipping volley from distance which flew just over the bar.

Sadio Mane has been in scintillating form for the Reds, scoring 11 of Liverpool’s last 20 goals in all competitions. And he thought he’d bagged another, on 38 minutes, picking the ball up on the edge of the box and firing one towards the far corner but as he expected the net to bulge it curled an inch wide.

Spurs ran out for the second half in attacking mood and came very close again. Harry Kane stung Alisson’s palms with a cross shot and the ball fell to Christian Eriksen who looked certain to score but Roberson put in a superb block.

As the game swung from end to end Mo Salah charged into the Spurs area after a fast break but his shot was blocked when maybe he should have passed.

Spurs were right back in the game and Liverpool’s defence had to stand firm as crosses flew into the danger area. And the pressure paid off with 20 minutes to go, when Kane swung a free-kick over to Kieran Trippier on the right flank, and his cross was helped on the way by Eriksen to Lucas Moura who slammed the ball home.

Tottenham Hotspur failed to upset SBOBET oods after losing vs Livepool
Lucas Moura scores an equaliser against Liverpool during the second half

Suddenly the tension was a fever pitch again and Liverpool threw men forward in a desperate hunt for a winner. But they were almost hit on the counter attack as Spurs broke brilliantly but Moussa Sissoko blasted over.

And then, as so often happens at Anfield, the late dramatic goal came. As the ball swung over Salah headed towards goal and Lloris could only palm it out giving Toby Alderweireld no time to react as the ball bounced off him and crept over the line.

Key Statistics

Liverpool was at odds of 1.59 to win this game with SBOBET but it was never that comfortable.

But the Reds are unbeaten in 50 games when they have gone ahead and have now scored their 400th goal under Klopp.

They have also reached 79 points, matching the tally they reached when they last won the league back in 1990.

Spurs’ difficult run continues and they have now lost four away games on the run while picking up just one point from the last 15.

What’s next?

Spurs has another tough game next week, a London derby against Crystal Palace. Roy Hodgson’s Eagles are climbing away from the relegation zone. And then it’s Manchester City in the Champions League. That’s not one to miss!

The Sky Blues went back to the top of the Premier League with a win over Fulham on Saturday and are still on for an historic quadruple.

Liverpool is away to Southampton next, another team in good form in the lower reaches of the table, before continuing their Champions League campaign against FC Porto.

Premier League Manchester City vs Cardiff City: A Tale of Two Cities

Manchester City vs Cardiff City

Two entirely different worlds clash on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium, when the big match is Premier League: Manchester City vs Cardiff City.

On the one hand, we have Manchester City, reigning league champions and, according to Liverpool’s head coach, Jurgen Klopp, the best team in the world, certainly with some of the best players. And then we have Cardiff City, an unexpected arrival in the Premier League and odds on for a quick return to the Championship. This game could have big ramifications at either end of the table, but only if we have a major shock.

The Sky Blues have it all going for them at the moment and it’s hard to see any other outcome than a home win and a return to the top of the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s stars.

Bundesliga

Talking Points

Sky Blues’ quadruple dream is on

A pretty comfortable win over Fulham kept the Sky Blues in charge of their Premier League destiny. They have already won the Carabao Cup and remain in three other competitions, favourites to win the league, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Manchester City will face Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup next weekend and Spurs in the Champions League quarterfinals. Pochettino’s Whites aren’t in the best form, taking just one point from five league games. So I fully expect the Sky Blues to advance further in both competitions.

Only a late and rather scruffy goal gave Liverpool a win over Spurs on Sunday, to return the Reds to the top of the table. But I strongly suspect it will be Guardiola’s team back at the top by Wednesday night.

Sergio Aguero just seems to be getting better and better and is the league leading scorer with 19 goals having bagged another at Fulham. And his goals are sure to fire the Citizens to more trophies.

I’d catch the Manchester City vs Cardiff City highlights as soon as you get the chance; I’m sure there’ll be goals!

Bluebirds against the world!

Can The visitors disappoint Manchester City vs Cardiff City betting odds and win in Etihad Stadium?
Neil Warnock was furious that Cardiff was denied a result against Chelsea by an appalling offside call

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has never kept a club up in a full season of top flight football, but he has guided teams to promotion on eight occasions; none was more impressive than getting the Bluebirds up from the Championship last term.

Almost every pundit, certainly we here at SBOBET, predicted a rapid return to the second tier but, despite being in the thick of the relegation mire all season they are still fighting. Huddersfield is already relegated and Fulham is sure to follow soon, but the Bluebirds occupy the last relegation spot, five points adrift of safety… so time is running out.

Warnock was furious with the officials after his side lost to Chelsea on Sunday when Maurizio Sarri’s Blues scored two late goals the first of which was a metre offside. The Cardiff boss was apoplectic with rage and must feel the world is against him and his side, particularly as his best defender, Sol Bamba, is out for the season injured.

Losing that game in such unfair circumstances could have one of two effects. Cardiff’s siege mentality might be strengthened or the cruel blow could end their season. A hammering at the Etihad might push it nearer the latter, but don’t expect Warnock’s men to stop fighting any time soon.

History

The Sky Blues have won the last three meetings between these two teams, the last being a 0-5 exhibition in Wales back in September when influential wide man Bernardo Silva was on target, as he was at the weekend.

Manchester City is on a run of 12 wins and will be hard to stop so Cardiff midfielder Harry Arter may have to resort to adding to his nine yellow cards.

Betting Tip

??

Manchester City vs Cardiff City Manchester City -3.00 @ 1.88
April 04, 02:45 (GMT+8)

The Manchester City vs Cardiff City betting odds unsurprisingly suggest we’re about to witness the most one-sided match of the season. The hosts are at 1.064 to win with the Bluebirds at a gigantic 38.00 to get a shock victory. 38.00!!

A draw at 9.50 is pretty big too, so do Warnock’s fighters stand any chance at all?

Well, Victor Camarasa is Cardiff’s best player and top scorer with five; and he put his team ahead with a smart finish against Chelsea. A trademark long throw into the box which somehow finds its way to Camarasa is the Bluebirds’ best chance. But with only five goals for the season, it isn’t a big chance.

A 4-0 scoreline is as low as 6.40 and that wouldn’t surprise anyone.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:

Premier League: Welcome Home – Now Win!

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

That is the simple but crucial message to Spurs as a new era for the club and indeed for the Premier League begins on Wednesday night.

A clash which SBOBET fans will normally look forward to between two attacking-minded sides suddenly has a new tingle of excitement to it.

Just a month short of two years playing away from home, Spurs are ready to return to home comforts as the new White Hart Lane welcomes back its heroes – and my word it looks terrific!

Talking Points

Could the new stadium actually end up saving Spurs’ season?

With just one point from their past five league matches, the timing may be crucial.

Up to 62,062 supporters could be packed into their breathtaking new home and the outpouring of relief – Spurs were scheduled to move to the new White Hart Lane stadium in September but construction was delayed several times – and emotion could have a galvanising effect on Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, which has been under strength for two months and seen the depth of its resources tested to the limit.

It has been tested to such an extent that as the team approaches the latter stages of a gruelling campaign, a clear lead in third place has been all but eaten up by the main challengers around them.

Pochettino himself admits his side is now involved in a ‘mini league’ with four teams vying for the remaining two Champions League spots so the timing of the move may be enough to urge them on towards securing one of those places.

La Liga

Despite results on the pitch, March was not the disaster for Spurs many critics suggested.

With Manchester United appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a full-time basis, and Zinedine Zidane returning to the Real Madrid hotseat, Pochettino’s future at the North London club seems more secure and less likely to approaches from coveted suitors this summer.

A number of his players are also returning from injury and their display in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Liverpool was much improved, only for an inexplicable Hugo Lloris error to cost them a point.

Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace have had a fine season under his stewardship and would love to spoil the party with three points which would all but seal top-flight survival for another season.

They remain a tough side to beat on their day and, in Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka,have two men in demand who they will need to keep to continue their progress over the past 18 months.

Zaha claimed two assists during the 2-0 win over Huddersfield at the weekend, while defender helped the Eagles keep their 10th clean sheet in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace are eyeing to upset SBOBET tips and win against Tottenham Hotspur
Crystal Palace's FA Cup battle against Tottenham Hotspur ended in a victory

The duo’s performances have led to them being linked with moves away from Selhurst Park this summer.

Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a host of clubs, such as Manchester City, while Zaha has been touted with a shock return to United.

This will be another chance to show their worth on what will be a night which should provide some of the Premier League 2019 highlights and will be an evening to remember for Spurs– particularly if the result goes their way.

History

Tottenham have won 11 of their 19 Premier League meetings against Palace, drawing five times and losing three games.

Spurs have won their last five League meetings 1-0, including in November when Juan Foyth scored his first league goal for the club.

However, Palace knocked a weakened Spurs out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park in January when Conor Wickham and former Spurs man Andros Townsend were on target.

Betting Tip

??

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace Asian Handicap Spurs -1.25 @ 2.08
April 4, 02:45 (GMT+8)

Palace are priced quite attractively to be party poopers.

1X2 @ 6.00 is certainly worth a punt on a side which will also be playing at the new ground for the first time, despite the carnival atmosphere.

You can get Asian Handicap +1.00 Palace @ 2.11 and the Double Chance Palace or Draw @ 2.48.

A repeat of Spurs’ league victory from November – correct score 1-0 – is on offer @ 7.20 and 1X2 Spurs @ 1.50.

Again, the 1X2 draw will appeal to many @ 4.30.

Goals are expected in this encounter, as shown by total goal 0-1 @ 4.20, total goals 2-3 @ 1.99, total goals 4-6 @ 2.91 and over 3.00 goals @ 2.16.

How can I bet against Spurs though, despite their recent poor run.

This is an occasion they have waited for and will savour.

Premier League: City Slickers Cruise to the Top

Manchester City 2-0 Cardiff City

Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League tonight after they strolled to victory against relegation-threatened Cardiff City.

A goal at either end of the first half ended the game in 45 minutes, and only a brilliant second-half display from Cardiff keeper Neil Etheridge kept the score down to two.

Following Liverpool’s late win over Spurs at the weekend, the Sky Blues had to win this game, and they dominated from start to finish but were wasteful in front of goal while the Bluebirds’ stopper played a blinder.

The pick of tonight’s other Premier League 2019 results was a win for Spurs at their new home, against Crystal Palace to move into third place, while Chelsea beat Brighton to go fifth.

Highlights of the game

You could hardly imagine two teams in the top flight with such contrasting styles, with Manchester City’s slick passing and movement and Cardiff’s pragmatic approach with a heavy reliance on long throws. But to win a throw-in you first have to get hold of the ball and for most of the game, the Welsh side saw very little of it.

Gabriel Jesus came close to scoring in the opening minute. Kevin de Bruyne fired a low ball across the Cardiff six-yard box, and Riyad Mahrez brought a good save from Neil Etheridge soon after.

Kevin de Bruyne's early goal helped Man City get the Premier League victory
Kevin de Bruyne strikes early as he scores Man City's first goal 6 minutes into the game

But there was little the Cardiff keeper could do on six minutes when Aymeric Laporte played De Buryne in down the left. The Belgian then cut inside and smashed the ball into the roof of the net from the tightest of angles. Unstoppable!

Jesus almost added another after City broke quickly. But when De Bruyne squeezed the ball across from the byline Jesus’ shot was just wide of the post. The Brazilian was itching to score having started the game, as top scorer Sergio Aguero was rested after limping off in the weekend win over Fulham.

But Jesus missed another glorious chance to make it two when his shot was deflected wide. Although, a pass to his team-mate would have surely produced a goal.

Cardiff almost made it to the break still in touch, but the pressure finally told when Jesus laid the ball off to Leroy Sane, who drilled the ball into the corner of the net.

Etheridge made a brilliant save to keep out City youngster Phil Foden early in the second half. The Cardiff keeper made a super save from Riyad Mahrez and then a brilliant stop to keep out a Laporte header.

La Liga

There was more hard work for Etheridge as he made another save from Sane. He was then aided by the woodwork as a Foden volley crashed a shot against the upright.

Cardiff had their first shot on target on 73 minutes, but Oumar Niasse’s effort was easily gathered by Ederson. Jesus then missed another sitter, trying a clever flick from a De Bruyne cross when a side foot would have sufficed.

Niasse had another chance to score as Cardiff made a speedy breakaway and Ederson came out to smother. There was to be no consolation, though 2-0 wasn’t a bad result for the Bluebirds.

Key statistics

This was always going to be a one-sided game at SBOBET odds of 1.064 for the hosts to win. With 80 per cent possession and 11 shot to one (five to nil on target), it was a wonder they went in at the break just two goals ahead.

By the end of the game, man of the match Etheridge made nine saves while City finished with 26 shots to three.

Cardiff City are fighting hard to prevent a relegation from the Premier League
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge after their match against Manchester City

But the Sky Blues have laid down the gauntlet to Liverpool and can look forward to an FA Cup tie at the weekend on a run of 13 wins.

What’s next?

City face Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup next weekend. And then it’s off to face Spurs in the Champions League quarter-finals as Pep’s team looks to progress in parts three and four of the ever more possible quadruple. Having rested some key players tonight, the Sky Blues are in good shape.

Meanwhile, Cardiff have six games to save their season. Five points from safety – and probably six when you look at their goal difference – they have two away games coming up against Burnley and Brighton, which they need to turn into four points at least.

The Premier League 2019 betting odds seem to agree the Bluebirds are going down. Lose those two games and they will!

Premier League: Tottenham Make Winning Start in New Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur's much-anticipated homecoming finally arrived, and it went as well as they could have hoped. Spurs started life in their new stadium with a much-needed 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

It was a huge win for Spurs, who had gone five matches without a win in the league. That included their late defeat to Liverpool after a Toby Alderweireld own goal last time out.

The win put them back up to third in the Premier League table, one point above North London rivals Arsenal, who still have a game in hand.

Those who took the Asian handicap SBOBET tip of Spurs -1.25 in this match's preview should be pleased as Spurs delivered following their recent run of poor Premier League 2019 results.

Highlights of the game

The energy before the match was predictably high, with the crowd of around 60,000 brimming with excitement as they get to experience their new stadium for the very first time.

Spurs had the first real chance of the match inside of two minutes off a corner. Kieran Trippier delivered a cross into the six-yard box, which Dele Alli met. However, the Spurs midfielder's header was tame and easily caught by Palace keeper Vicente Guaita.

Just a minute later, it was Palace's turn to threaten as Jeff Schlupp got behind the Spurs defence. But he was under pressure from Toby Alderweireld and blazed his effort way over the bar.

Spurs then had a good chance in the 16th minute through Christian Eriksen. The Dane's shot was saved by Guaita, and despite Son being well-placed to pounce on the rebound, Palace were able to get the ball clear.

Son fired a shot which tested Guaita again on 36 minutes, but the Palace keeper was just able to push the ball out for a corner from his near post.

Harry Kane's best chance of the first 45 minutes came just before half-time as he attempted to get on the end of an Eriksen cross. Unfortunately, his header went well wide.

Spurs eventually made the breakthrough 10 minutes after the break. Eriksen's press won the ball in Palace's third and quickly got to ball to Son. And after evading several Palace defenders, the South Korean got a huge slice of luck as his shot took a huge deflection, which sent the ball right into the corner.

Kane had a glorious opportunity to double Spurs' lead 10 minutes later after he was sent clear on goal. But the star striker was unable to get enough curl on his shot as he tried to place it into the top corner of the goal.

But Kane did play an important part in Spurs' clinching goal in the 80th minute. He was able to work his way into the six-yard box before getting tackled. Eriksen was quickest to react to the ball ahead of several flat-footed Palace defenders as he slotted past Guaita.

Palace almost pulled a goal back inside last five minutes as a Patrick van Aanholt cross appeared to be headed toward goal. But Hugo Lloris was just able to get his hand on the ball and push it out for a corner.

Palace had another great chance from the ensuing corner, but Christian Benteke was unable to get his header from the six-yard box on target.

Key statistics

It was quite a dominant opening performance from Spurs in their new ground. They controlled 65 per cent of possession and outshot Palace by a whopping 26 to five.

Spurs' recent dominance over Palace continues. They have now won each of their past eight Premier League meetings against Crystal Palace. Palace have also failed to score in their last six away games against Tottenham.

No wonder the Tottenham vs Crystal Palace betting odds had Palace priced at 6.00 to win in the 1X2 market. This fixture has been -- and continues to be -- quite a one-sided affair.

Son scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season, snapping a five-match goalless run in the league. His last PL goal came all the way back against Leicester in February.

Son Heung-Min celebrates Tottenham Hotspur's first goal against Crystal Palace in their recent Premier League game
Son Heung-Min christens new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with first goal

Meanwhile, Eriksen picked up yet another assist, giving him 59 in 200 Premier League games. Only Cesc Fabregas (66), David Beckham (62), Thierry Henry (61) and Dennis Bergkamp (60) have had more assists in their first 200 PL appearances.

What's next?

After taking care of business in the league, Tottenham now turn their attention to next week's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City. City are coming off a comfortable 2-0 win over Cardiff City in midweek to return to the top of the table.

As for Palace, they take on Newcastle away on Saturday in the Premier League. Palace are just one spot ahead of 14th-placed Newcastle in the Premier League table. Victory for either side should just about secure Premier League survival for this season.

Premier League: Goodison Glee or Glum – You Decide?

Everton vs Arsenal

Two in-form sides, one trying to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, the other bidding to bring renewed hope of better times for next season. It’s rare that the Premier League doesn’t have something to offer and this game at Goodison Park should be no exception. Tenth plays fourth and there is plenty at stake still for both sides, especially as the higher a team finishes in the Premier League, the more millions a club will receive in its coffers.

Premier League

Talking Points

Arsenal are sitting in the Champions League places with seven matches remaining, Given they have not been involved in the competition over the past two seasons, that is surely a position their supporters and manager would have taken at the start of the campaign. They have remained consistent and taken advantage of stutters from Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd – their latest success a routine home victory over Newcastle - to ensure the destiny of a top four finish is in their own hands. Given five of their last seven league matches are away from home, beginning at Goodison, they will also be aware there is much work to be done. Team news wise, their selection concerns surround Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny, while Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira is suspended. Their main threat may be soon-to-depart Welshman Aaron Ramsey who has scored six goals in his last five Premier League games against Everton, his best overall return against any team. Arsenal have already matched their tally of 63 points from last season with seven games left which shows the progress they are making. Everton hope to be making headway of their own and will, likely, still have their eyes on seventh spot with just four points separating them and Wolves, who currently occupy that position. [caption id="attachment_161426" align="aligncenter" width="750"]Marco Silva eyes to upset the Premier League odds against Arsenal Marco Silva instructing from the sidelines[/caption] On the upside, they have won consecutive Premier League fixtures for only the second time this season and Marco Silva’s side are now chasing three consecutive clean sheets for the first time in 2018-19. Victory against Chelsea in their last home game also ended a 25-match winless run against the big six. On the downside, that was only their second win in nine league matches at Goodison and, if they lose on Sunday, Everton will have been defeated for five consecutive times against the North Londoners for the first time in 19 years. Colombia international Yerry Mina is their only absentee through injury. A trip to Goodison is rarely easy but Everton will both create and concede chances. It could come down to whichever side is the most clinical.

History

SBOBET fans may remember the meeting earlier in the season when Unai Emery’s side triumphed 2-0, then in the early stages of an impressive run which has led Gunners’ fans to believe their new manager is leading them in the right direction. That was their fourth consecutive victory over Everton, a run going back to December 2016 when a late Ashley Williams goal gave the home side a 2-1 success. Last season, this fixture marked the end of Ronald Koeman’s reign in charge on Merseyside. Despite going in front through a superb Wayne Rooney goal, Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey were on target in a 5-2 romp. In fact, Arsenal have won seven and drawn one of their last nine clashes. Overall, this fixture – a bastion of top-flight English football – has seen Arsenal triumph on 106 occasions, with 60 Everton victories and 45 draws. Arsenal’s 97 wins in this fixture is an English league record for one side against another.

Betting Tip

??

Everton vs Arsenal Draw 1X2 @ 3.20
April 7, 21:05 (GMT+8)
Arsenal are favourites with SBOBET Premier League 2019 betting odds. You can back them 1X2 @ 2.33, compared to Everton @ 3.05 and the draw @ 3.20. Elsewhere, Asian Handicap odds favour the home side 0.00 @ 2.25 and + 0.25 @ 1.88, with Arsenal -0.50 also available @ 2.33. Goals are regular commodities in this fixture and over 3.00 goals will pay out @ 2.16, total goal 2-3 @ 1.98 and total goal 4-6 @ 2.94. Indeed, the Gunners have scored 107 goals versus Everton, a Premier League record against a single team. A repeat of Arsenal’s 2-0 victory earlier in the season will offer odds of @ 13.00 with correct score, while for Everton to re-run their success of just over two years ago – correct score 2-1 – there’s a bet available @ 10.50. Double Chance Everton or Draw @ 1.55 suggests this will be a close encounter.

Premier League: Chelsea Can’t Afford London Derby Slip-up

Chelsea vs West Ham United

London will be quite busy this weekend as Wembley plays host to the FA Cup semi-finals. But soon after, another big Premier League clash is set to take the city by storm. That match, of course, is the London derby between Chelsea and West Ham United.

Chelsea are still right in the thick of the race for the fourth and final Champions League place and can't afford to drop any more points. Meanwhile, the Hammers are smack dab in the middle of the table and are might just be waiting to get the season over with.

UEFA - Champions League

Talking Points

Blues much better at the Bridge

Chelsea are coming off another convincing home performance in midweek as they battered Brighton, 3-0. Callum Hudson-Odoi was handed his first-ever Premier League start, while Olivier Giroud also got a rare chance to play in the first XI.

Both made the most of their opportunity as they connected for the first goal. Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek then combined for their other two goals.

The Brighton result highlights why Chelsea's Premier League 2019 betting odds tend to be markedly better at Stamford Bridge. They have lost just once at home in the league all season, and have also won four of their last five on home soil. Their last home defeat in all competitions was against Manchester United in the FA Cup back in February.

On the other hand, their away form has been awful. They've lost four of their last six, with their two wins coming against a couple of teams in the relegation zone (Fulham and Cardiff).

With Giroud in decent goalscoring form of late -- he has five goals in his last 10 games for club and country -- it will be interesting to see whether Maurizio Sarri continues to start him over Gonzalo Higuain.

Sarri's team selection might be the biggest factor in this match. The logical move would be for him to stick with Giroud and Hudson-Odoi, but Sarri said he still doesn't know if the teenager will keep his place in the first XI against West Ham.

Even if Sarri doesn't go with what appears to be his optimum starting lineup, Chelsea might still get the win given their strong home form. Although, it might not be as comfortable as it probably should be considering their advantages.

Inconsistent Hammers

There are still six matches left to go in the season, but West Ham might already in offseason mode. That certainly seemed to be the case after seeing their disastrous display in their 2-0 home defeat against Everton, which manager Manuel Pellegrini labelled as their worst performance of the season.

West Ham United eye to upset the Premier League odds when they Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
West Ham United eye to upset the Premier League odds when they Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Their previous two results also raised similar red flags. After losing 2-0 to likely-to-be-relegated Cardiff, they went 3-1 down against bottom club Huddersfield. Although they did battle back to win 4-3, giving up three goals to a side that had scored just 15 goals all season was quite concerning.

The fact of the matter is that West Ham don't really have much to play for anymore this season. They're currently 11th with 42 points and don't have much incentive to go up any higher. Perhaps the fact that this is a London derby can provide a much-needed spark to their performance.

However, it should be noted that the Hammers' Premier League 2019 results away from home have been awful of late. They've lost five of their last six away matches in the Premier League, scoring just one goal during that span.

Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic are also doubtful to feature due to injury. Their potential absence obviously won't do the Hammers' chances of rediscovering the back of the net any good.

History

West Ham have had decent success against Chelsea in recent seasons. In their last seven meetings, the Hammers have lost just once, with two wins and three draws.

However, it's been a completely different story at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have gone undefeated in their last 12 Premier League home matches against West Ham, with eight wins and four draws.

Moreover, recent matches between the two have generally been closely contested. The last time a team has won by more than two goals was Chelsea at home back in 2014. There have also been three goals or fewer in each of the last 12 games between the two.

Betting Tip

??

Chelsea vs West Ham United Total Goal 2-3 @ 2.12
April 09, 03:00 (GMT+8)

As recent history has shown, there don't seem to be too many goals when these two teams meet. And based on current form, it's unlikely that that will change in this upcoming meeting. That's why 2-3 total goals at 2.12 seems like a nice bet.

Chelsea are tied with Liverpool for the best home defence, conceding just 10 goals in 16 matches. Meanwhile, the Hammers have been pretty hapless in front of goal away from home and could be without their top two attacking weapons.

And on the other side, Chelsea should still be good for at least a couple of goals to win the match quite comfortably in the end.

SBOBET odds also have Chelsea -1.50 on the Asian handicap market priced at 1.89 if you're so inclined to wager that way.

Premier League: Arsenal’s Away day Blues!

Everton 1-0 Arsenal

Unai Emery’s Arsenal failed to take a firm hold of a top four place in the Premier League today, losing to in-form Everton at Goodison Park.

An early goal from Toffees captain Phil Jagielka was enough to seal the points, and it was a worryingly lacklustre performance from the Gunners, so impressive at home, but so flaky when they are on the road. Their sixth defeat away from home means they could well drop of the top four when Chelsea plays West Ham tomorrow.

And the win lifted the Toffees to ninth place and just one point behind Leicester City in seventh position in the race to be ‘the best of the rest’. It was fully deserved win for Marco Silva’s team and it could easily have been by a bigger margin.

Highlights of the game

Everton had a superb home win against Maurzio Sarri’s Chelsea recently and they got off to the perfect start today, when veteran defender Phil Jagielka helped on a long throw from Luca Digne and when the ball landed back at his feet he poked home.

It was Jagielka’s first Premier League goal for two years, and he was only in the side because centre back Michael Keane felt unwell in the run up to the game. It was a great moment for the Everton stalwart who was wearing the captain’s armband.

Everton vs Arsenal results: Phil Jagielka put the hosts ahead
Phil Jagielka celebrates his first goal in two years

Everton had the better of the first half, playing at a higher tempo, snapping into tackles and getting the ball forward quickly. The Toffees no nonsense approach was paying off and they had a good chance to double their lead, shortly before the break when Gylfi Sigurdsson had space to shoot but Bernd Leno saved.

The Toffees’ goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been under pressure after a series of mistakes and a lively night out in Sunderland which hit the front pages of the UK press, but he kept his place and had a mercifully quiet first half.

Unai Emery isn’t slow to make substitutions and he brought Arsenal’s top scorer Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang on, alongside Aaron Ramsey. And the Welsh midfielder almost made an immediate impact when he met a weak Pickford punch but volleyed over the bar. Arsenal was playing with more intent and Ramsay had another chance for a corner but sliced his shot well wide. He had twice as many efforts in five minutes than the whole Arsenal team had in the first 45!

Marco Silva’s side was chasing three consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season and the early second half exchanges suggested they’d have to work hard for it. But Everton came back on the attack and when Bernard latched on to a poor header from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Leno had to be out quickly to deny the Everton man.

The game began to get stretched and Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan beat Seamus Coleman but curled his shot just wide. And then Everton had two great chances to put some distance between them and the Gunners, but Sigurdsson’s first time effort was straight at Pickford, and then Richarlison fired wide when he had time to pick his spot.

Premier League: Bernd Leno denies Bernard's goal
Bernd Leno did well to stop Bernard when the Everton winger was clean through on goal

Bernard had another opportunity but, once again, shot straight at Leno. We waited for an Arsenal onslaught, and waited.

But it never came.

Key statistics

The recent Everton vs Arsenal results were very much in the visitors’ favour, but that mattered not one bit to the 39,000 fans packed into a sunny Goodison Park as they watched their team run out deserved winners.

The Gunners had won four on the bounce against the Toffees and so most Everton vs Arsenal betting tips pointed to an away win, but there was no sign of that in a first half as they registered just one shot, while the hosts had six attempts on goal.

Everton’s first win against Arsenal in three years was never in much doubt as they ended up registering 22 shots to the Gunners’ seven.

Arsenal still hasn’t had an away clean sheet this season, and if they don’t remedy that I can see the Gunners missing out on Champions League football.

What’s next?

The Toffees have a very winnable game away to relegated Fulham next week; and then it’s one of their fans’ favourite fixtures, a home game against Manchester United. We’ll be watching that one so keep it here for the latest SBOBET tips and updates.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have a home Europa League tie against Napoli to look forward to and that will be a fascinating clash between two of Europe’s most attractive sides. Napoli will be in the Champions League again next season where Unai Emery’s team will hope to join them. But they’ll have to play better than they did today.

Premier League: Unplayable Hazard takes the acclaim

Chelsea 2-0 West Ham United

If Eden Hazard is to depart English shores this summer – as seems increasingly likely with Real Madrid long coveting his signature – then he will leave with countless Premier League 2019 highlights to his name stretching seven seasons.

Indeed, along with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Hazard has been the other true world-class star to grace the Premier League, which he has won twice.

If any proof were needed -- and there isn’t -- what occurred in the 24th minute of Chelsea's encounter with West Ham was further confirmation of his remarkable talent.

Highlights of the game

Chelsea celebrates after winning the London derby match in the Premier League match against West Ham
Players of Chelsea celebrate after Eden Hazard scored a brace in the Premier League match against West Ham United

Picking up possession a good 35 yards from goal, there seemed to be few attacking options for the 2015 PFA Player of the Year.

With that in mind, the Belgian decided to go it alone and embarked on a run which saw him get between youngster Declan Rice and West Ham skipper Mark Noble.

The Chelsea number 10 then zigzagged Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna before producing a quite unerring finish beyond Lukasz Fabianski.

It was stupendous, it was sensational and, if SBOBET fans could study Premier League 2019 betting odds on a goal of the season contender, there would be few to rival this strike.

This player has delivered time and time again when it has mattered for both his club and on the international stage, where he inspired Belgium to a third-place finish in last summer’s World Cup.

At times at Stamford Bridge, the playmaker was on a different level to both opponents and team-mates alike as Chelsea boosted their chances of a return to next season’s Champions League.

Once that moment sparked this noisy London derby into life, it became one-way traffic in the Blues' favour. Hazard played in Gonzalo Higuain minutes after the goal, only for the striker to see his shot crash off the post and away to safety.

With young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi making consecutive Premier League starts for the first time and looking lively, the hosts were well on top.

Hazard continued to torment the visitors and only a fine block from Aaron Creswell denied Hudson-Odoi a second goal.

The two linked up again four minutes before the break when Hazard sent him away; it took a fine fingertip save from Fabianski to keep West Ham in touch.

Javier Hernandez was bidding to become only the fifth Premier League player to score in five successive away games against the same team. But such was the home side’s dominance that the lone front man didn’t reappear for the second half – a sign that perhaps West Ham had got their tactics wrong?

The elusive second goal would not arrive and Kepa Arrizabalaga was finally called into action nine minutes after the restart. He palmed away a Manuel Lanzini effort after Marko Arnautovic and Felipe Anderson – who made his first appearance following an ankle problem – teamed up.

Anderson then tested the home goalkeeper again and Cresswell went close as West Ham – aiming to go four Premier League matches without defeat in this fixture for the first time in 19 years – woke up.

Yet it’s clear that despite the unfair criticism he is receiving, Maurizio Sarri is doing a decent job. Dissatisfaction may linger but Chelsea are six points better off at this stage of the season than they were under Antonio Conte a year ago.

Even when Ruben Loftus-Cheek was replaced, some boos were directed at Sarri, yet his replacement was to have a key part in the match-clinching second goal.

After Arnautovic had come within inches of an equaliser, it was Ross Barkley whose pinpoint pass picked out Hazard and, well…. you know the rest!

Control and finish and, possibly, another £10 million added to his price tag.

That debate can wait until another day, however.

Lets just appreciate the genius of Eden Hazard.

UEFA - Champions League

Key statistics

It’s now 17 years since West Ham won a league game at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are unbeaten in 13 home league meetings against the Hammers since a 3-2 loss in September 2002 (won nine, drawn four).

Chelsea have now won three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since winning their opening five matches of the campaign.

Chelsea have only lost three home Premier League London derbies over the past four seasons (won 10, drawn four).

The Blues have the division’s best home defensive record this season, conceding 10 just goals.

West Ham are winless in seven league away matches -- losing six -- since a 2-1 victory at Southampton in late December.

The Hammers have kept just two clean sheets on the road in 16 league fixtures.

What’s next?

This was the start of a hectic spell of four matches in 11 days for Chelsea.

The West Londoners now travel to Slavia Prague for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final. The second leg a week later is sandwiched between a Premier League visit to Liverpool.

West Ham have no such congestion. They travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Saturday before hosting Leicester City on Easter Saturday (April 20).

Predicting How the Premier League Races Play Out

It's no secret that the Premier League is all too happy to proclaim itself as the best league in the world. The legitimacy of that title is debatable at times, but not this season. In fact, the Premier League is in the midst of one of, if not the most exciting season in its entire history.

Not only has this year's title race been one of the best and most closely contested in years, but even the race for the top four has also been incredibly captivating. And with only a handful of games remaining, all those races are on course to go right down to the wire.

With that said, here are some SBOBET predictions on how everything will eventually shake out in the final few weeks of the season.

Manchester City-Liverpool Title Race

Liverpool currently have the two-point lead over Manchester City atop the table. However, they have played an extra game on City, who still have six games remaining.

Liverpool's last five matches are against Chelsea at Anfield,  Cardiff, Huddersfield, Newcastle, and Wolves. Meanwhile, City still have Palace, Tottenham, Manchester United (at Old Trafford), Burnley, Leicester, and Brighton.

On paper, Liverpool have the easier run-in of the two. Obviously, their toughest test will come against Chelsea. But they will at least get to face them at Anfield, which has been a fortress this season. The Reds are undefeated at Anfield, with 14 wins and two draws in 16 games.

They should also get all three points from their games against Cardiff, Huddersfield, and Newcastle. Wolves will be a tougher test, but again, Anfield will serve as a significant advantage.

On the other side, City have three legitimately tough matches remaining against Tottenham, United , and Leicester. Spurs and United are both still in top-four race and will be gunning to take City down. And Leicester have been flying since Brendan Rodgers' arrival and will look to end the season as impressively as possible.

Even City's away matches against Palace and Burnley also have the potential to be somewhat tricky. Palace are the only team to date to defeat City at the Etihad in the Premier League this season.

How far both clubs go in the Champions League will also factor into the run-in. City are already in some trouble after a 1-0 defeat in the first leg against Spurs. Meanwhile, the Reds appear to have one foot in the door after a comfortable first-leg win over Porto.

But while Liverpool have had their some stumbles of late, their remaining schedule will play a major factor. It's hard to see City not faltering at least once until the end of the season with their run-in. That should provide Liverpool with the opening they need to reclaim top spot -- and the title.

Top 4 Race

Will Harry Kane's ankle injury prematurely end his Premier League season?
Harry Kane suffers ankle injury during Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League clash with Manchester City

The race for the final two Champions League spots is incredibly fierce. Chelsea have moved ahead to third for the time being, but they have played a game more than their three rivals. Spurs are currently in fourth, with Arsenal one point behind. And Manchester United are a further two points adrift of the Gunners.

Of the four, Chelsea have the toughest run-in. Apart from Liverpool, they also face Manchester United and Leicester away, and FA Cup finalists Watford at home in their final five matches.

Outside of the Man City match, Spurs have a relatively easy end-of-season run-in, with Huddersfield, Brighton, West Ham, and Bournemouth all ripe for the picking. However, Spurs will likely be without Harry Kane for the remainder of the season after he suffered an ankle injury against Man City, which is a huge blow.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have to deal with four more away matches against tricky opposition in Watford, Wolves, Leicester, and Burnley, which is not good. As far as Premier League 2019 betting tips go, one of the big ones is to not trust Arsenal away.

The Gunners' away form has been absolutely horrific. They've won just two of their last 12 away from the Emirates in all competitions, with seven losses. They have also lost five and won just two of their last eight away matches in the Premier League.

That just leaves Manchester United, who do have tough matches against Man City and Chelsea in back-to-back weeks. Even their trip to Everton is looking dangerous after the Toffees' recent home wins over Chelsea and Arsenal.

But at least their big matches against City and Chelsea will both be at Old Trafford, which is a big advantage for them. Meanwhile, their matches against West Ham, Huddersfield, and Cardiff should all yield maximum points.

However, it's going to be tough to see United overtaking two clubs in the final few weeks. Arsenal's chances of breaking in are also not great, considering how poorly they've been playing away from home.

That means despite Kane's likely absence, Spurs should be able to hang on for a top-four spot along with Chelsea.

Relegation Race

Neil Warnock and Cardiff City look to avoid Premier League relegation this season
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock watches his squad play during a recent Premier League game

Cardiff have put up a good fight for most of the season, but their Premier League 2019 results just haven't been good enough. As a result, it appears as if they are as good as relegated.

The Bluebirds are still five points adrift of Southampton in 17th with six matches to go and have both Liverpool and Manchester United left on their schedule. So barring some unforeseen miracle, Cardiff are destined for the drop, joining Fulham and Huddersfield back in the Championship.

But in the absence of a compelling relegation battle at the bottom of the table, there is at least some intrigue at midtable.

Race For 7th

Behind the top six, there's a four-team group -- Leicester, Wolves, Everton, and Watford -- battling for seventh spot, as well as the title of "best of the rest" in the Premier League.

The Foxes have suddenly overtaken Wolves for seventh thanks to their fine form of late. Since losing their opening match under Brendan Rodgers, Leicester have won four games on the trot. Everton have also come on strong of late to join that pack as Wolves and Watford have had some recent wobbles.

But Leicester's run-in is quite difficult as they face Arsenal, City, and Chelsea in the final three weeks of the season. Watford also have to face those three teams in their last few matches.

Everton (Man United, Tottenham) and Wolves (Arsenal, Liverpool) also have some tough matches coming up against top-six opposition, which will only keep this race tight until the last few weeks.

In the end, though, Wolves should just have enough to claim seventh over those three. After their heartbreaking FA Cup defeat, they will likely have their sights set on being the "best of the rest" as consolation for what has been a terrific season.

Premier League: Bluebirds are still Battling

Burnley vs Cardiff City

Be honest…if anyone had told you Cardiff City would still be in with a chance of survival with six games of the league season remaining would you have believed them?

No me neither. But they are. The Bluebirds are fighting for their lives, and on Saturday they head north to East Lancashire to face Burnley, a team which, until they bagged back-to-back wins, was looking nervously over its shoulder. The Clarets have climbed to 14th and are probably one win away from safety, while Neil Warnock’s Cardiff sits in 18th and five points from Southampton in 17th.

Premier League Burnley vs Cardiff City may not sound the most glamorous of fixtures, but if you want blood, guts and passion then Turf Moor is the place to be on Saturday.

Talking Points

Dwight’s alright for the Clarets

In what has been a difficult season for Burnley they have unearthed a real gem in 19 year old winger Dwight McNeill. With three goals and four assists he has attracted the attention of the England camp, joining the Under 20s recently; and his direct running and superb delivery has been troubling defences right through the league since his arrival on the scene at Christmas. An injury to Robbie Brady gave McNeill his chance and he’s grabbed it with both hands.

This young man is a dead cert to feature in the Burnley vs Cardiff City highlights.

Up front Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have rediscovered the form of last season and are a real handful for defences, putting Spurs to the sword recently in a 2-1 win at Turf Moor. There isn’t a centre back pairing in the country that would look forward to facing this pair, and now with the supply that McNeill provides they are getting more chances.

Head coach Sean Dyche says his team has got back to doing what they do well after losing their way at the beginning of the season.

Cardiff’s week of destiny

Víctor Camarasa has scored five goals for the Bluebirds this Premier League season
Cardiff City's Victor Camarasa with team mates during the warm up

A result away to Burnley will keep the Bluebirds in the survival chase but they would need to follow that up with another, preferably a win, when they play Brighton away next Tuesday. The Seagulls are five points ahead of Cardiff, as are Southampton. But while the Saints seem to be on an upward trajectory Brighton has had a poor run since a strong first half of the season.

I would say that four points from those two games would give Cardiff a fighting chance, but getting a point or more at Turf Moor will be a tough task. Victor Camarasa carries the visitors’ biggest threat and is top scoring with five. But Cardiff’s favourite weapon, the long throw, might not get much change out of Burnley’s defensive pair, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski. They need to find a way to score on Saturday and Warnock will have to work hard to solve that one.

The Bluebirds have had a tough run and were unlucky to lose 1-2 at home to Chelsea recently, conceding two late goals, the first a mile offside. But they never lack spirit and will play to the last.

So don’t write them off just yet.

History

Burnley won a hard fought victory in South Wales earlier in the season and are unbeaten in the last four fixtures against Cardiff.

When playing at home, Burnley has not lost to Cardiff in the last ten encounters.

And while Cardiff’s top scorer has five, Ashley Barnes is Burnley's leading marksman with ten goals and he’s likely to add to that, with the chances supplied by McNeill coming thick and fast.

A year ago, Burnley was seventh in the table with 49 points. Now they are 14th with 36 points but Dyche will point to last year’s success, resulting in a Europa League fixture clog interrupted his team’s Premier League start.

Betting Tip

??

Burnley vs Cardiff City Burnley 1x2 @ 1.94
April 13, 22:00(GMT+8)

There is a lot of pressure on Cardiff to get something from the next two games, particularly Tuesday’s clash with Brighton as, next up, they have Liverpool to play. Their -33 goal difference means they need two wins more than Brighton over the remaining games. Or three more than Burnley would do.

But they are only in with a shout because of their home form and they are coming up against a Clarets side which has rediscovered its form at the right time. The Burnley vs Cardiff City odds say a home win is odds on and I can’t argue with that.

The draw, with SBOBET, at 3.45 would be a good result for Warnock, a win at 3.80 even better; but Sean Dyche will remind his players that they are not safe yet; so I expect Cardiff’s defence to be the busier on Saturday.

Premier League: Hammers Bid to End Old Trafford Hoodoo

Manchester United vs West Ham United

After a spirited but ultimately fruitless display against Barcelona in midweek, it’s back to the Premier League for Manchester United and they have work to do.

Few if any SBOBET fans would have given them a chance of a top four finish before Christmas but the form since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – initially as interim manager and now full-time boss – has lifted spirits.

Even accounting for two defeats in the last three league matches (four in five in all competitions), United can claim a Champions League qualifying berth.

But they need to return to winning ways immediately.

Nothing more than three points against West Ham at Old Trafford will be acceptable.

Talking Points

Premier League highlights have been few and far between for both sides recently, West Ham also going down to defeat earlier this week.

Yet one of their best results of the campaign came back in late September when they had too much in a dynamic showing which consigned United to their worst top flight start for 29 years.

On saying that, United were listless that afternoon and Solskjaer will not expect a repeat given what is now at stake.

His preparation won’t be helped by the absence of both his first choice full-backs, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young who are suspended.

While Mateo Darmian would normally be expected to fill either role, he is injured and club captain Antonio Valencia seemingly on the way out.

That leaves the door open for Diogo Dalot, the talented Portuguese youngster who has impressed, and Marcos Rojo, who was on the bench in midweek in Europe.

A lack of match practice for Rojo, however, could see Dalot play left-back with Phil Jones coming in on the right-hand side.

West Ham will seek a league double and have far more than pride to play.

They know finishing in seventh position could open the door for a Europa League place themselves. They are currently five points adrift and boss Manuel Pellegrini hasn’t ruled it out, even if the Chilean tactician admits a long season is catching up on some of his players.

He has certainly steadied the ship in east London this term, improving their home form and making the Olympic Stadium a far happier place than a year ago, yet on the road their form has been terrible.

Indeed, not since December 27 at Southampton have the Hammers taken all three points on their travels.

In their defence, they have struggled with a number of long-term absentees with the injury-prone Andy Carroll seeming to have played his last game for the club and defender Fabian Balbuena only returning this week after being out since December with a knee injury.

West Ham United are hoping to win once more against match favourite Manchester United in Premier League
Javier Hernandez celebrate after scoring a goal

The match will see former United favourite Javier Hernandez return to Old Trafford and he will be afforded a warm welcome, although he will hope he is given more service than he’s received most of the campaign.

History

When these clubs met last season there was a genuine air of excitement that United were ready to mount a title challenge after a successful first season with Jose Mourinho at the helm.

It showed in the performance too as United romped to a 4-0 opening weekend of the season victory, courtesy of goals from debutant Romelu Lukaku (two), Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.

The goalless draw the sides payed played out in London in the penultimate league game of the season last May confirmed United in the runners-up spot.

West Ham were 3-1 winners at home earlier this season, thanks to goals from Felipe Anderson, Marko Arnautovic and an own goal.

Marcus Rashford replied for the Red Devils.

West Ham last won at Old Trafford in May 2007 when a certain Carlos Tevez scored the goal to keep the Hammers up against the already crowned league champions.

Betting Tip

??

Manchester United vs West Ham United Manchester United, Asian Handicap -1.50 @ 2.12
April 14, 12:30 (GMT+8)

Premier League betting odds strongly favour United.

They are priced 1X2 @ 1.40 with the draw @ 4.50 and the Hammers well adrift @ 7.60.

Should West Ham get a positive result, there is an attractive Double Chance bet - West Ham or Draw will pay out @ 2.81.

Goals are normal between these sides and there’s room for a small profit with total goal 2-3 @ 2.12, total goal 4-6 @ 2.55 and over 3.25 goals @ 2.16.

If the Hammers turn on the style or prove a real match – as they so often do in the big games – Asian Handicap West Ham +1.00 @ 2.44 will have caught your eye.

In contrast, a repeat of last season’s comprehensive home victory – correct score 4-0 – offers you a payday @ 18.50.

Premier League: Liverpool’s Date with Destiny

Liverpool vs Chelsea

It’s all bubbling up at the top of the Premier League as, on Sunday, Liverpool has a huge hurdle to clear in a blockbuster clash with Chelsea.

Premier League Liverpool vs Chelsea is the match of the weekend; and it could be one which makes a huge difference to the final run-in. It’s undoubtedly Liverpool’s toughest game left, with due respect to Cardiff City, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves who also stand in the Reds’ way.

By the time Liverpool and Chelsea take the field, Manchester City will have finished an away game at Crystal Palace where a win would take Pep Guardiola’s team back to the top, above the Reds by a point.

This could well be a big weekend!

Talking Points

Can Liverpool finally lay the ghost?

This is Liverpool’s best chance to win a first ever Premier League title since they were in a similar position in 2014, when Brendan Rodgers came so close to steering the Reds to the domestic glory they have yearned for. In the long history of Liverpool vs Chelsea highlights the biggest moment came when Steven Gerrard slipped during the 2014 Anfield clash, allowing Demba Ba to run through and score, to effectively hand the title to Manchester City.

It’s a moment SBOBET football fans will remember, but one which Reds fans will have played over in their minds too many times; and now it’s time to consign it to history.

The difference this time is that Liverpool has players capable of seeing the job through, with strikers Mo Salah and Sadio Mane on 18 and 17 goals, Alisson Becker keeping 17 clean sheets, the most in the league; and that’s with no little thanks to the form of centre back Virgil Van Dijk and attacking wing back Andrew Robertson.

Fixture list kinder to Reds

Liverpool will come into the game in good shape after a comfortable workout in the Champions League against Porto on Tuesday, running out 2-0 winners without breaking too much sweat.

But Chelsea has had a much busier week travelling to Prague to take on Slavia on Thursday night, and that was after a Monday night London derby against West Ham. Marcos Alonso’s late header gave the Blues a win in Prague as head coach Maurizio Sarri made seven changes, resting Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain.

Chelsea is getting nicely into its stride at the right time, winning the last four games in all competitions, and three in the league which has taken the Blues up to third in the table in the chase for Champions League football.

In good form Eden Hazard will be a huge threat for Liverpool when they battle at Anfield in Premier League
Eden Hazard celebrates after scoring a brace against West Ham United

The Blues are not a one man team, but, and it’s a big but, they seem to rely on the mercurial Hazard to provide their big moments rather too much at times. The Belgian scored one of the goals of the season to beat West Ham last week. He made a direct run, leaving four defenders in his wake before firing home. It was a goal Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

This is a game on which the SBOBET Premier League 2019 could turn and, with two highly talented teams in good form it’s a tough one to call.

History

In the 71 games these teams have played in the Premier League era the Blues have the edge, winning 29 to Liverpool’s 23 and there have been 19 draws.

The Blues have also won two of the last five matches, while the other three have been 1-1 draws.

Liverpool’s home form is superb, still undefeated, winning 14 and drawing two, and they have won their last four at Anfield. But remember Chelsea is on a four match winning run… and they have the best player.

Hazard isn’t far behind Liverpool’s two strikers with 16 goals and has by far the most assists at 12, with Robertson Liverpool’s best provider with eight.

Betting Tip

??

Liverpool vs Chelsea Chelsea Asian Handicap +0.50 @ 2.36
April 14, 23:30 (GMT+8)

This is going to be a Clash of the Titans and at 1.67 to win, the hosts look a little short to me at a time when the pressure is mounting and Chelsea starts to look like a real force again. But with the draw at 3.70 and Chelsea at 5.00 we should see a home win and Liverpool players have had an easier week.

The Reds haven’t beaten Chelsea in five games though; and they have been relying on late and sometimes lucky goals to keep their run going. Jurgen Klopp will hope his team’s luck doesn’t run out, and in many ways they deserve it to hold out.

1-0 is the most likely result, at odds of 6.80, but 1-1 is not far away at 7.00. And I just have a sneaky feeling Chelsea will pose a few too many problems for their hosts.

Premier League: Can Gunners Bring Down the Hornets?

Watford vs Arsenal

It’s about time Arsenal found a way to win away from home. But the Gunners have a very difficult task to overcome if they are to discover that way this weekend. Monday night’s Premier League fixture brings together Watford and Arsenal in a match both teams need to win, but the hosts’ form at home is as good as the visitors’ away form is poor, so the Vicarage Road crowd has good reason to be optimistic. Javi Gracia’s side has made plenty of Premier League 2019 news this season with its attractive attacking style and constant threat to teams the length of the league. And a dramatic comeback win against Wolves has taken the happy Hornets to an FA Cup Final against Manchester City. Meanwhile the Gunners have been very impressive at the Emirates but their failings on the road leave them as outsiders for a top four spot. So I wouldn’t guarantee their chances of them bringing the Hornets crashing back down to earth on Monday!

Talking Points

The race for ‘Best of the Rest’ This has been Watford’s best year since its return to the top flight in 2015. Previous campaigns have started brightly but then tailed off, with relegation an emerging prospect in the latter stages of each season, but this time it’s different and Watford is in good shape to challenge for seventh place with a possibility of European football at Vicarage Road. It’s a four way battle with Leicester City, Everton and Wolves all within a point of each other, but the Hornets and Wolves have a game in hand on their rivals. ‘Mr Watford’ Troy Deeney has been at his combative best this season and is top scoring with nine goals; and the addition of Gerard Deulofeu has been a masterstroke. With seven goals and four assists he’s doing exactly the job Gracia paid Barcelona £12m for, and at that price he looks a real snip. Watford has won four of the last six games, losing one against Manchester City and the Hornets were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Manchester United recently. Arsenal’s away day problems The Gunners looked sadly lacklustre in a 1-0 defeat to Everton last week and that meant they still haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home all season, a remarkable statistic for a side chasing a Champions League place. Arsenal’s poor away form will be a telling factor in any Watford vs Arsenal betting tips as well as in the Gunners prospects of finishing in the top four. With two away wins from the last 11, in all competitions, they have drifted rather more than Unai Emery hoped after an impressive start to his reign at the Emirates. Following this they match the Gunners still have Wolves, Leicester City and Burnley to play away from home and none of those games will be easy.
Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey eyes to put Arsenal in good position in the Premier League
Aaron Ramsey celebrates after scoring an opener in Europa League

Emery had great success in the Europa league with Sevilla, winning the tournament three consecutive times, and he may well be targeting that competition as a second way of reaching the Champions League. Arsenal beat Napoli 2-0 in a quarter final first leg on Thursday to take charge of that tie and has a great chance of silverware in Europe. Aaron Ramsay was on target against Napoli and he’ll be a big player in the Gunners’ run-in with his box to box play and eye for goal.

History

In the 12 matches played between Watford and Arsenal since 1999 there have been no draws, with Arsenal winning nine and Watford three. The referee could have a busy afternoon. Jose Holebas has picked up 11 yellow cards for Watford this season, just one more than Arsenal centre back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who was brought in to add some steel to the Gunners’ back line. Watford has won its last four home matches, more cause for concern for Arsenal.

Betting Tip

??

Watford vs Arsenal Draw 1X2 @ 3.40
April 16, 03:00 (GMT+8)
This isn’t the easiest of SBOBET tips to make as, while Watford is so strong at home and Arsenal so flaky on the road, the Gunners are still favourites to win the game at odds of 2.21 and the hosts are available at 3.10. In Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal has a 17 goal striker in great form, but will he get enough supply to add to that on the road? And the Hornets have a nasty sting for any defence, let alone one which can’t keep a clean sheet! 1-1 is the most likely result at odds of 6.80, and I suspect this could well be the first draw between Watford and Arsenal this century.

Premier League: United Claim Points, West Ham Deserve Plaudits

Manchester United 2-1 West Ham United

Manchester United may have picked up three valuable Premier League points as they continue their chase for a top-four spot, but West Ham's performance was worthy of praise.

This was a match which had only a few Premier League 2019 highlights but my word, they were telling.

A match of importance for both sides, neutral SBOBET followers will tell you the visitors deserved at least a point -- and they would be right.

West Ham, who were coming off another disappointing 2-0 defeat against Chelsea, were literally a width of the goal frame and a David De Gea fingertip from victory.

That they return south empty-handed means Premier League 2019 betting odds on United claiming a top-four finish remain a possibility.

Highlights of the game

In summing up, three players will be the focus of the post-match discussions.

Step forward Paul Pogba, De Gea and Felipe Anderson.

West Ham had managed to get the ball into the net after just nine minutes. Anderson’s volley was impressive but was ruled offside – although replays suggested otherwise.

Fortune favoured United again a short time later.

After 18 minutes the returning Marcos Rojo found Juan Mata, who shaped to shoot but was felled by a clumsy Robert Snodgrass challenge at the edge of the box.

In or out of the box, foul or not, a penalty was awarded, and Pogba confidently drilled home the resulting spot-kick.

The dangerous Anderson, who scored in West Ham's 3-1 win against United earlier this season, went close with a flick-on which just needed a touch from a team-mate. Later on, Chris Smalling headed over from a Mata corner.

Anderson was third time lucky five minutes after the restart as he delivered a deserved equaliser for the Hammers.

Pogba wasn’t on the same wavelength with De Gea as West Ham gained possession from the keeper's roll-out. Manuel Lanzini then delivered an inviting cross which Anderson reached ahead of the dozing Rojo and expertly converted.

As West Ham passed the ball around confidently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent on Marcus Rashford for Mata. The youngster almost immediately made his mark, forcing Lukasz Fabianski into a fine one-handed save.

While United improved, they still failed to convince and looked like a side which had lost four of their past five matches in all competitions.

As Solskjaer bravely sent on young players Andreas Pereira and Mason Greenwood, West Ham piled forward.

A superb shot from one of the visiting substitutes, Michail Antonio cannoned back off the crossbar. He then teamed up with another lively replacement,  Grady Diangana, whose header was destined for the top corner until David De Gea somehow clawed the ball away.

In those moments it showed how much West Ham have missed the talented Antonio.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini looks defeated during their Premier League battle against Manchester United
West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini looks disappointed following their 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford

Coach Manuel Pellegrini had his head in his hands as De Gea somehow kept his side level. It was to get worse for the visitors moments later when Anthony Martial was brought down in the penalty area by Ryan Fredericks.

For the second time, Pogba was coolness personified from the spot. How crucial that game-winning penalty could be, we will know in a month’s time.

Key statistics

Pogba has been directly involved in 22 Premier League goals this season (13 goals, nine assists) – more than in any previous campaign.

Anderson is the first West Ham player to score home and away against Man Utd in the same season since Jermain Defoe in 2001/02.

Only Ruud van Nistelrooy (eight in 2002-03) has scored more penalties in a single Premier League campaign for Man Utd than Pogba (seven) this season.

No team has taken more Premier League penalties than Man Utd this season (12, one more than Crystal Palace). It’s the most they have ever been awarded in a Premier League campaign.

West Ham had 18 shots in this match, their most in a Premier League away game since December 2016 (24 vs Leicester).

United are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings at Old Trafford, winning nine and drawing two.

The Red Devils have not kept a clean sheet for nine games in all competitions - their longest run since a 10-match sequence in 2012.

Although, they are unbeaten in their last 14 home league games (won nine, drawn five), last losing at Old Trafford in August against Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are winless in eight league away games, losing seven and scoring just twice.

West Ham have kept just five Premier League clean sheets this season -- only Fulham have recorded fewer.

What’s next?

It’s a quick turnaround for United. They travel to Barcelona on Monday to play the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final the following night – their third game in a week. They trail 1-0 after the first leg.

They then travel to Everton on Easter Day in the Premier League.

As for West Ham, they host Leicester City on Easter Saturday and then it’s a derby with an edge on April 27 as they travel to Spurs.

Premier League: Liverpool Rises to City Challenge

Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea

Liverpool are back at the top of the Premier League, thanks to two superb goals early in the second half in a crunch clash against Champions League chasing Chelsea.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah were on target again as the Reds moved two points ahead of Manchester City, though they have played a game more. But make no mistake; this was a huge result for Jurgen Klopp, his team and the city of Liverpool.

This home game against Chelsea was the Reds’ hardest fixture in the run in for Klopp’s title chasers, with only Wolves to face from the top half of the league table.

Before the game, the head coach dismissed all talk of Steven Gerrard’s slip against Chelsea which handed the 2014 Premier League title to Manchester City, and he was determined his current crop of Reds would keep their feet, and their composure. Of all the weekend’s Premier League 2019 results there was no denying that, for Reds fans, Manchester City’s earlier win at Crystal Palace was a big one, and though Klopp insists other results don’t affect his players he can’t stop them affecting the crowd.

Throughout this pulsating race for the title the Premier League 2019 betting odds have always leaned towards Manchester and now it was over to Liverpool...and Klopp’s team stood firm.

Highlights of the game

The Reds lifted the home crowd with an early attack. Naby Keita released Mane on the wing and his cross was met by Salah who’s first time volley was saved by Kepa.

But the hosts knew they were in for a tough game. Eden Hazard was at his unplayable best against West Ham last week, scoring a candidate for goal of the season. And he weaved his way into the Liverpool box before cutting back onto his right foot and firing a shot into Alisson’s hands.

After Premier League, Chelsea will now focus on their UEL match
Eden Hazard came close for Chelsea but his goal hit the post

As Liverpool swept forward Jordan Henderson got on the end of a lofted ball to hit a sweet volley which was deflected behind for a corner, and then Willian had a good chance when Chelsea broke but fired well wide. Just before the break Mane missed the best chance of the half when Salah put him in but he curled his shot wide of the post.

At the beginning of an all action second half Liverpool turned the game on its head with a double strike in the space of three minutes. The first came after great work from Jordan Henderson who made his way to the bi-line and lifted a beautiful ball for Mane to convert at the back post and lift the roof off Anfield.

The home fans were still celebrating when the Reds hit a second; and it was an absolute beauty. Mo Salah picked the ball up around 30 yards out and cut inside onto his left foot before unleashing a rocket beyond Kepa and into the top corner.

But this Chelsea side didn’t roll over and had two excellent chances to hit back, both falling to Hazard. The first came when David Luiz lifted the ball over the Liverpool defence and Hazard brought it down expertly before firing it against the upright. Then Willian chipped another fine ball in to the Belgian but this time his first time effort was straight at Alisson.

Salah, clearly lifted by his goal, tried his luck again but Kepa saved. And as much as Chelsea pressed, as the minutes ticked by Klopp’s smile began to grow wider.

What a response to Manchester City!

Key statistics

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are now on 19 and 18 goals, and Alisson Becker has kept 17 clean sheets, but it was a superb team effort from the Reds to win this huge game.

Liverpool is unbeaten at Anfield in 38 league games and they have ended Chelsea’s four match winning run.

It’s the first time they have beaten Chelsea in seven home league games and the Blues have already won at Anfield in the Carabao Cup this season.

What’s next?

Liverpool has a Champions League second leg away to FC Porto to contend with next. They take a two goal lead to Portugal and should have enough to reach the semi-finals.

Then it’s back to the Premier league race and a trip to South Wales to take on Cardiff City. Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds are in desperate relegation trouble and fighting for their lives, so that won’t be easy.

The Blues have two home games, one in the Europa League against Slavia Prague and then, next Monday they entertain Burnley. The Clarets have won three on the bounce and won’t arrive in London with any fear.

There’s plenty more action to come and we’ll be right there with all our SBOBET news, tips and updates through every twist and turn in a tumultuous last few weeks.

Premier League: Deeney Stupidity Lets Watford Down

Watford 0-1 Arsenal

Troy Deeney epitomises much of what is laudable about Watford’s Premier League adventure.

He has "cojones" – which translates as balls - as Arsenal know only too well about when you cast your mind back to this corresponding fixture last season.

Then, as many SBOBET fans will remember, he led from the front and played a key part in a last-gasp victory against the Gunners that Watford fans remember fondly.

This time, however, their captain took his combative approach too far and cost his team dearly.

After this result strengthened the Gunners’ Champions League hopes in the process, Deeney cannot expect to receive any good wishes from fans of Spurs, Chelsea, or Man United, either.

Highlights of the game

Indeed, no sooner had he been dismissed in the 11th minute of this match at Vicarage Road, Arsenal fans wasted no time in goading him on social media.

Former Man Utd and England full-back Gary Neville had said before kick-off that Arsenal should make sure they keep him quiet to gain their revenge.

But in the end, a moment of stupidity ensured the Hornets skipper self-destructed as he thrust his forearm into the face of Lucas Torreira.

It capped a true minute of madness for the visitors, who were there for the taking, especially as this fixture was sandwiched between a two-legged Europa League quarter-final with Napoli (the Gunners have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg with the second leg in Naples in 72 hours’ time).

Just 60 seconds earlier, Arsenal scored the only goal of the game – another gift from the home side and one that will make the Premier League 2019 highlights compilation for all the wrong reasons.

Daryl Janmaat passed the ball back to his goalkeeper Ben Foster and couldn’t have expected the Watford No. 1 to take a first poor touch and then see his clearance hit the ankle of the onrushing Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and roll the ball into the net.

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster clanger cause Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opportunity for goal in Premier League home clash against Arsenal
Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster reacts after Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slips past and scores a goal in their recent Premier League clash

Talk about an implosion.

Quiet what manager Javi Gracia made of it all is hard to tell, but the FA Cup finalists were up against it from that quick-fire spell.

In hindsight, a look back to Deeney’s quotes from last season suggests referee Craig Pawson may have been keeping a closer eye than normal on proceedings.

"I have to watch what I say, but it’s [having] a bit of cojones, is what I’ll say. Whenever I play against Arsenal, I’ll go up and think ‘let me whack the first one and see who wants it."

Either way, after their 1-0 defeat at Everton a week ago, this was a key win for Arsenal and could well prove crucial come the end of the season.

Foster made a good save to deny Henrikh Mkhitaryan 12 minutes after the restart when Arsenal should have made the game safe. But even against 10 men, they were largely second best.

The closest Watford came to a goal were just past the half-hour and hour mark.

First, Etienne Capoue hit a free-kick which was destined for the top corner until Bernd Leno made a full stretch save.

Then, Adam Masina crashed a shot from 25 yards with the outside of his boot and saw it cannon back off the top of the crossbar.

Despite plenty of energy, Watford's final ball was so often lacking and could not claim an equaliser against their unimpressive opponents.

As to why, they should look no further than their goalkeeper and their captain.

There was nothing ballsy about Deeney's actions, which hurt the Hornets in a huge way.

Key statistics

Since returning to the Premier League in 2015, Watford have picked up 15 red cards in the competition, more than any other side.

Arsenal have won five of their previous six Premier League visits to Vicarage Road.

This was Watford’s first home defeat since Boxing Day, although they have only won two of their 16 Premier League games on a Monday (drawn five, lost nine).

The Gunners have won only three of their last 13 away matches in all competitions. And this was their first clean sheet away from home in the league this season.

Aubameyang is Arsenal's highest Premier League goalscorer this season with 18 goals, yet this was his first away from home in 2019. He has been directly involved in three goals in his three Premier League appearances against Watford, scoring two and assisting one.

What’s next?

Watford travel to rock-bottom and already relegated Huddersfield Town next, before hosting Southampton a week from tomorrow (April 23).

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s hectic schedule continues with the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at Napoli in three days’ time. They then host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Easter Day before a trip to Wolves next Wednesday, when the Premier League 2019 betting odds may change yet again.

Premier League: Everton can add to Ole’s Challenge

Everton vs Manchester United

Manchester United makes the short trip up the East Lancs Road to Merseyside this weekend, for another big test for the Red Devils.

Fresh from a tough examination in the Camp Nou, Premier League Everton vs Manchester United is the first of three huge games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team; and it’s a fixture the Toffees’ fans always look forward to.

The Red Devils have had the better of Everton vs Manchester United results in the past, but there is not much to choose between these two teams at the moment, and the Old Trafford outfit knows it is in for a real game.

Talking points

Are the Toffees’ back from the beach?

Around this time of the season, the teams at the top and the bottom end often prefer to play someone in the middle, with little to play for. Does that apply to Everton?

Marco Silva’s team was on a decent run of form, winning three on the bounce without conceding a goal; and put a dent in Arsenal’s Champions League hopes the last time out at Goodison Park. But then they really threw one in last weekend when they meekly surrendered to already doomed Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Londoners bullied the Toffees throughout and played with the pace and skill we really expected from the visitors. But veteran defender Phil Jagielka admitted his team was never at the races, saying: “We just couldn’t get going. Fulham were raring to go and we couldn’t match them.

“We need to dust ourselves down now and get ready for Manchester United.”

The Everton players do have something to play for. They are in a four way race for seventh place, the ‘best of the rest’ and a potential Europa League spot. And coach Silva does have a talented squad at his disposal.

Everton will aim for a giant-kill when they face Manchester United in Premier League
Gylfi Sigurdsson celebrates with Everton coach Marco Silva after winning their match against Arsenal

21 year old striker Brazilian Richarlison has improved steadily this season, growing in maturity and hitting the levels his manager expects of him; and has benefited from the fine form of playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson. And young forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin can be a handful for any defence on his day.

Everton could do Manchester United a huge favour on the last day of the season when they play Tottenham Hotspur, but I doubt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will expect a warm welcome this weekend.

Three huge games for Ole

The Red Devils have been on a tricky run recently, and were lucky to beat West Ham last week thanks to two Paul Pogba penalties and some help from the woodwork and the linesman, as well as a world class save from David de Gea. The United keeper is higher up in the number of saves list than you’d expect, a top five place for the goalie is unusual for a team chasing Champions League football.

They arrive at Goodison Park on the back of a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League and must now concentrate entirely on the Premier League. Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his team played with the right attitude in the Camp Nou and now they have three massive games to come, before two very winnable matches at the end of the season.

United finish with an away trip to Huddersfield and a home game against Cardiff City, though the Bluebirds may still be fighting for their Premier League survival. But after a trip to Goodison Park, they host Manchester City and then top four rivals Chelsea. Those two games will be another good measure of United’s progress.

Ole’s boys are sixth, but only three points behind third place and they won’t want that gap to stretch too far in the coming two weeks, starting at Everton.

Marcus Rashford is a key man for the Red Devils. He hit the bar in the opening minutes of the defeat to Barca on Tuesday and has been a constant in OGS’ team since his arrival.

History

The head-to-heads are well in favour of Manchester United with 37 wins to eight and ten draws in the last 55 games as both have been Premier League ever presents.

Everton hasn’t won in its last three clashes with the Red Devils but their visitors have lost the last four away matches in a row, and Manchester United’s four goal defeat to Barcelona was its heaviest in a two leg tie in the Champions League

So where is the value in the Everton vs Manchester United betting odds here at SBOBET?

Betting tip

??

Everton vs Manchester United Draw 1X2 @ 3.30
April 21, 20:30 (GMT+8)

The Red Devils are marginal favourites to win this game at odds of 2.31 with the Toffees at 2.99, and I can see the visitors ending their run of defeats, but I don’t see them overcoming Everton at Goodison Park.

I can see a high scoring draw and a result of 2-2 is available at 13.00.

Premier League: City and Spurs…Round Three

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City hosts Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium as both teams continue an epic season in search of glory.

Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have guided their teams to the business end of the season with everything to play for, and now they come together for the third time in two weeks.

City is trading blow for blow with Liverpool at the top of the league in the most exciting title race for years. Meanwhile, Spurs, who made it a three horse race throughout the first half of the season, are now in a four-way battle for two Champions League places. Premier League Manchester City vs Spurs is the blockbuster clash of the weekend and we’ll be right there with all the action at SBOBET.

Spurs had the better of the Sky Blues in the Champions League first leg, thanks to a Heung-Min Son goal. And there is that small matter to settle this week before these two teams meet again in the League on Saturday.

It’s going to be another great game so, in the meantime, let’s have a look at the big talking points and cast an eye over the Manchester City vs Spurs betting odds.

Talking Points

Sky Blues showing no sign of stress

You’d think the ever-increasing talk of quadruple, at least outside of the Etihad, might increase the pressure on Manchester City, but there’s no sign of it so far. Jurgen Klopp seems to have inspired his Liverpool to move into another gear, beating an impressive Chelsea side on Sunday, which must have had a few Sky Blues’ fans worrying.

But Pep Guardiola’s team has been playing with cool efficiency in the league in recent weeks, beating teams from the lower half of the table and rarely moving out of their own second gear. And the City boss in using his talented squad carefully as the climax of three big competitions home into view.

Pep rested some of his biggest names in the first leg Champions League tie against Spurs, only throwing Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane on in the 89th minute, and De Bruyne almost created an equaliser. Leaving his best player on the bench for such a big game is a sign of supreme confidence in his squad.

Of course, he has a fantastic choice of striking talent, led by Sergio Aguero, who has been at the top of the Premier League goalscorers chart for a while; and Kane’s injury increases his chances of winning the Golden Boot.

And in a very tricky Premier League fixture at the weekend, away to Crystal Palace, Aguero was subbed by Gabriel Jesus who scored a goal, while Raheem Sterling grabbed a brace.

Spurs Stand-ins can stand up

Yet another injury to Harry Kane has dealt a blow to Mauricio Pochettino’s hopes of a comfortable run-in to the end of the campaign, but when he asked his other players to take up the baton, he is rarely let down.

Heung-Min Son scored his 18th goal of the season, in all competitions, when Spurs beat City in the Champions League first leg. And in the skipper’s prolonged absence earlier in the season the South Korean really came to the fore as the club’s main man up front.

Premier League: Sergio Aguero's weak penalty was saved by Hugo Lloris
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris guessed correctly and saved well to deny Sergio Aguero's penalty kick

And in a 4-0 win over doomed Huddersfield last Saturday, it was the turn of Lucas Moura to shine, scoring a brilliant hat-trick and returning to the form which wrote headlines at the start of the season. He now has ten league goals to his name.

Kane is one of the best players in the world, but when he isn’t in the team, they do pretty well. And that presents a different challenge for opposing coaches.

Meanwhile, World Cup winning keeper Hugo Lloris will try to replicate the form he showed against City in the Champions League, saving an Aguero penalty, rather than his form against Liverpool when he handed the Reds a win with a clanger!

History

Head to head Manchester City vs Spurs results favour Spurs as a long-standing top end team in the Premier League, while City’s rise has been rather more rapid. The Whites have won 24 of the 47 clashes in the Premier League era with the Sky Blues registering 16.

City haven’t drawn at home this season, winning 16 and losing one, while Spurs is yet to have an away draw, winning 11 and losing six.

The Sky Blues’ win at Selhurst Park took them on to 150 goals for the season, in all competitions, and that leaves them just six short of the record they set back in 2014. They are likely to smash through that barrier over the next week or so.

Lucas Moura’s hat-trick at the weekend was the Whites’ 24th in Premier League history, and that’s one more than Manchester City’s 23.

Betting Tip

??

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Manchester City -1.50 @ 1.97
April 20, 19:30 (GMT+8)

The odds tell us that there should be a 1.50 goal split with Spurs at odds of 1.98 with that advantage.

The Sky Blues have been winning with ease and expending no more energy than necessary, but I think they’ll be keen to make sure in this game.

Premier League: Liverpool’s Title March Heads to Wales

Cardiff City vs Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League bandwagon rolls on to South Wales on Sunday for a huge clash against relegation threatened Cardiff City.

After clawing its way back into the survival race Neil Warnock will have his side set up to fight tooth and nail against Liverpool, and the Cardiff City Stadium will be at its hostile best.

These are often the games which provide the biggest tests; a team with four games left to earn another year at the top flight will never, ever roll over. So Liverpool will need to be at its best, and be patient. The way the Reds are playing they can break down any defence, but they don’t want to get into a war with Warnock’s warriors.

Talking Points

Reds ready to go all the way

This has been the best Premier League title race in a while, and Liverpool showed just how well prepared they are with a vital 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend. The Blues’ Eden Hazard has been in scintillating form but Liverpool put on a confident, energetic and ultimately impressive performance to win the game.

Manchester City’s shock exit from the Champions League last night, to Spurs on away goals, will have left Pep Guardiola’s team more determined than ever to take a clean sweep of domestic titles. But is the momentum beginning to swing towards Merseyside?

Liverpool coasted through to the semi-final of the Champions League with a 1-4 win against Porto. Klopp’s philosophy is that his best players can keep playing as long as they are winning; and all three of his main strikers were on target. Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino all scored in Portugal, as did defensive lynchpin Virgil Van Dijk.

Wing back Andrew Robertson has had a superb season for the Reds as a key part of their defence, as well as making nine assists with his incisive runs and accurate crossing.

The Premier League 2019 betting odds still marginally favour Manchester City on the assumption they just can’t lose. But they did against Spurs over two legs…

Cardiff can still catch the falling Seagulls

The Bluebirds are still fighting for their lives, but after defeat last weekend to Burnley they face an uphill battle, but they certainly haven’t given up just yet.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing eyes to secure a positive Premier League 2019 results against Liverpool
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing celebrates goal against Brighton & Hove Albion

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock doesn’t feel his team has been getting fair treatment from the officials recently and his comments have got him into trouble, but anyone who saw Chelsea’s offside equaliser a couple of weeks ago will have some sympathy. And midfield dynamo Harry Arter has issued a rallying call to his team-mates, saying: “We’ve faced adversity this season, on and off the pitch and we feel like if we are going to stay up, we will really have battled against everyone.”

And he adds a dose or realism: “The reason we’re in this position is that over the course of the season we haven’t been good enough at times.

Recent Premier League 2019 results haven’t been going in Cardiff’s favour, with Burnley, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton all easing away from the relegation places.

But the Bluebirds knew that Chris Hughton’s Brighton was still within reach after a poor run of form culminating in a 0-5 home reversal against Bournemouth. And on Tuesday night when the two teams clashed, Cardiff came out on top to claw their way to within two points of the sad Seagulls. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored a brilliant early strike to put the Bluebirds ahead before centre back Sean Morrison made the points safe as Cardiff completed a crucial double over Brighton.

With four games left Warnock knows his team must win at least another one, and probably two, to make a dramatic escape.

History

Liverpool has won all five of the Premier League meetings with Cardiff City, the last being a 4-1 victory at Anfield back in October when Sadio Mane scored twice.

While Liverpool has three strikers banging the goals in for fun; Cardiff’s top scorer is Victor Camarasa with five; and Mendez-Laing’s cracker on the South coast was only his second of the season.

Cardiff needs more wins, but may have to wait…Liverpool hasn’t lost in its last 17 games.

Betting Tip

??

Cardiff City vs Liverpool Cardiff City Asian Handicap +2.00 @ 1.90
April 21 23:00 (GMT+8)

Cardiff is at 15.00 to win with SBOBET with Liverpool at 1.21 and the draw at 5.60; so all reason points to an away win.

Warnock is a wily old bird though, and when Cardiff faced Manchester City recently he set his team up to concede as few goals as possible and they went down 2-0. I am sure this game will follow a similar pattern but wouldn’t rule out a goal for the battling Bluebirds.

Premier League: City Show Mental Fortitude with a Teenage Heart

Manchester City 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur

This could never possibly live up to the stratospheric clash of 60 hours earlier.

But it was no less important for Manchester City in their quest for Premier League glory.

And the defending champions did take care of business in the third and final round of the trilogy against Tottenham in the space of just 11 and a half days.

Highlights of the game

With City needing maximum points in the title race and Spurs really in need of a point to keep them in control of their bid for a top-four spot, it was also clear this would be far from an anti-climax – there was too much on the line for that.

There was also too much quality, with four of the eight players on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award starting at the Etihad Stadium.

The difference in squad depth was clear on the substitutes benches as both managers made changes – Pep Guardiola three and Mauricio Pochettino five –yet the quality of player on the home bench was superior.

Five minutes in, though, and it was one of the young guns who didn’t cost City a penny who made the breakthrough.

Phil Foden, making just his second top-flight start in place of David Silva, had one of his top Premier League 2019 highlights as he headed home from close range to give the hosts a dream start.

Bernardo Silva curled a perfect cross to Sergio Aguero, and the Argentinian cushioned an equally perfect header across goal for the 18-year-old Foden to nod in.

Spurs had moments of their own as Ederson was needed to keep out Christian Eriksen, who may have been held back in the area. Bernardo Silva also had a big penalty shout moments later.

Manchester City have bounced back from UCL defeat with a win to Tottenham Hotspur in recent Premier League battle

With no VAR, as there was in midweek, it merely added to the debate about video replays.

No video replays were required just before half-time when City suffered a major. Kevin de Bruyne, in imperious form since his recent return, signalled to the bench and had to come off – a possible end to the Belgian midfielder’s stop-start season with what looked like a significant hamstring injury.

Son Heung-Min, one of the heroes in midweek, almost capitalised on City’s misfortune two minutes before the break when he charged through the home defence and left them in his wake only to be denied by Ederson.

The VAR debate reared its head once more just before the hour as Dele Alli drove into the penalty area and the ball appeared to hit the arm of his former team-mate, Kyle Walker.

There certainly seemed to be nerves among the home side, who also lost Aguero a short time later. Guardiola was perhaps taking no chances after the Argentinian talisman seemed to pick up an ankle knock early in the second half.

City, needing one more goal to equal the record of 156 by a top-flight side in a season in all competitions (one they set themselves in 2013-14), had the chance to wrap up victory with 20 minutes remaining.

Aguero’s replacement, Leroy Sane, darted down the left and pulled the ball back to Raheem Sterling, who seemed set to score until Paulo Gazzaniga produced a superb reflex save.

Play went right back to the other end, and this time, it was a combination of Ederson and John Stones which proved crucial.

Sensing some nerves, Pochettino threw on midweek match-winner Fernando Llorente for the final 13 minutes in an attempt to unsettle the home defence.

Nerves and exhaustion were natural bedfellows in the closing stages, but City showed character and credentials to hold on for an important win as the SBOBET Premier League 2019 betting odds twist yet again.

Spurs have other matters to focus on now, but they should be extremely proud of their efforts over the past week and a half.

Key statistics

City have won 25 home games in all competitions this season, the most they’ve ever won in a single campaign and the most by a top-flight club since Man Utd in 2010-11 (26).

Foden is the first player born in the 2000s to score a Premier League goal for City and is their third-youngest scorer in the competition overall (18 years, 327days) after Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge.

City have now equalled their club record of four consecutive top-flight wins against Spurs, who have lost eight of their last 10 visits to the Etihad Stadium in all competitions, conceding 28 goals.

Guardiola’s side have won 25 of their last 27 league and cup matches, including their penalty shootout victory in the League Cup Final.

City have earned an unsurpassed 22 points this season in games against established top-six rivals and have won nine of their past 10 home league matches against the rest of the current top six, including all five this season.

Spurs remain the division’s leading scorers in away matches with 33 goals.

This was Spurs' first defeat this season without Harry Kane.

What’s next?

Man City travel to neighbours Man Utd in midweek for a crucial Manchester derby. They then travel to Burnley a week from tomorrow (April 28).

Spurs also have a busy week. They entertain Brighton and West Ham in back-to-back home matches in their new stadium in the week ahead.

Everton 4-0 Manchester United

It would be churlish to take away any praise from Everton after such a comprehensive victory.

After all, this was their fifth consecutive Premier League home match against a top-six team and they have only lost one of them – highlighting their undoubted progress under Marco Silva. In fact, it just goes to show how results like last weekend must frustrate them.

But this report is going to focus on the biggest club in England and its shambolic failings.

All the top Premier League sides have lost at Goodison Park over the years and bounced back - traditionally it is a tough place to go. But few performances are as woeful as this.

For all the criticism aimed at him before and since his dismissal in December, Jose Mourinho would not have tolerated this performance. Nor should recently appointed full-time boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It remains a real risk that United appointed a manager of such inexperience at the top level, especially to replace a proven winner - despite the Portuguese’s track record for being disruptive.

However, one factor that could not be brushed aside, especially now, is that some players threw Mourinho ‘under the bus’ and are now performing as below par and embarrassingly for the new man in charge, just as they did for him.

Mourinho knew certain performers went missing too often - read Paul Pogba as the main culprit (for the second time in a week). World class talent but not a world class performer. Mourinho knew certain performers were talented but too inconsistent - read Anthony Martial as the prime example. Mourinho knew certain performers were just not good enough in terms of quality for a team of United’s stature - read Phil Jones as a player who is simply not good enough for the first-team. And there are others as this spineless performance showed yet again.

Solskjaer will no doubt be given time to put things right, even if question marks remain against his ability to manage the task ahead. As for the match, Everton were on top from start to finish against woeful United as the Toffees produced some moments of real quality which will be among their Premier League highlights.

Highlights of the game

Manchester United suffered their third consecutive away defeat in Premier League
Manchester United players are looking dejected after suffering a defeat vs Everton

Everton may have lost 36 Premier League matches against United, a competition record for defeats against a single opponent, while United’s 16 Premier League victories at Goodison Park is also a competition record for away wins at one stadium.

Yet there never looked like being an addition to those statistics from as early as the 13th minute.

Richarlison hooked the ball home acrobatically and Everton were on their way.

Gylfi Sigurdsson then drove home from 25 yards to put the hosts firmly in the ascendancy.

There was more to come after the break as Lucas Digne drove the ball back from long-range after David De Gea punched away a corner before substitute Theo Walcott rounded off a day to remember for Everton with a fine solo goal.

United had their first and only shot on target in the 86th minute.

A performance brimming with energy and tempo, Everton thoroughly deserved the rout, only their second win against United in 10 attempts.

The Premier League betting odds on United claiming a top four finish may still be available but my advice to SBOBET readers is: don’t waste your money!

Key statistics

United have conceded 48 Premier League goals in 2018-19, their highest ever tally in a single season in the competition and their most in a top-flight league campaign since 1978-79 (63).

The last time United lost five successive away games in all competitions was in March 1981.

Sigurdsson has been directly involved in eight Premier League goals against United, scoring five and assisting three.

Everton have now matched their total points tally of 49 from last season.

This is also the first time in two years Everton have won three successive home league games without conceding.

They last won three home league games in a row against established top-six opponents in March 2012, beating Manchester City, Chelsea and Spurs without conceding.

United have lost three Premier League away games in a row for the first time since January 1996.

United have not kept a clean sheet for 11 games in all competitions, their worst run for seven years.

What’s next?

Everton travel to Crystal Palace next weekend as the end of their season draws near.

United host Manchester City in a midweek derby before welcoming Chelsea to Old Trafford a week today (April 28).

Premier League: Chelsea Welcome Streaking Clarets

Chelsea vs Burnley

The last time Chelsea were in action in the Premier League, they suffered a 2-0 setback at the hands of title challengers Liverpool at Anfield. That defeat has put the Blues on the outside looking in with respect to the top-four race.

Chelsea, who have a tough run-in to contend with, can no longer afford to drop too many points in their final four league games. But up next for them is a tricky home test against Burnley, who have surprisingly been one of the in-form teams in the Premier League of late.

While the Premier League 2019 betting odds heavily favour the Blues to grab all three points, they will be wise not to underestimate the plucky Clarets.

Talking Points

Eden Hazard's fitness

Chelsea are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League after a 4-3 win over Slavia Prague in midweek. The Blues were made to sweat after Slavia Prague scored two second-half goals, but they were able to hold on for the final half hour.

Both Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso missed the Europa League match due to injury and are once again expected to be absent for the visit of Burnley.

But the much bigger piece of Premier League 2019 news is about the status of Eden Hazard's ankle. The Belgian winger was substituted off in the second half against Slavia Prague after being on the receiving end of some crunching challenges.

While Maurizio Sarri thinks Hazard can recover from his ankle injury in time to feature against Burnley, it remains to be seen whether the Belgian will be at his very best even if he does play.

However, the Blues can take heart from the fact that they brushed past Burnley 4-0 in their first meeting this season -- and they did it without Hazard in the squad.

But even if Hazard is unavailable or limited, they still have Pedro, who was absolutely spectacular against Slavia Prague. The Spanish veteran had two goals (and was denied another by the frame of the goal) as well as an assist in the second leg, which could see him keep his place against Burnley.

Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud also had a goal and an assist for the Blues. But it will be a bit of a surprise if Sarri sticks with Giroud instead of Gonzalo Higuain despite the Frenchman's fine form of late.

Burnley in banging form

What do Burnley have in common with the top two title challengers, Manchester City and Liverpool? They're the only three teams in the Premier League who have won each of their last three games, of course!

While the top two have a slightly longer streak, the Clarets can be proud of their recent three-match winning run, which may have been enough to get them to safety.

Sean Dyche's side began their hat-trick of wins by beating high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, 2-0. They then blew past Bournemouth 3-1 away from home and took care of relegation-threatened Cardiff, 2-0.

Chris Wood has been in outstanding form of late. He scored both goals in their win against Cardiff, upping his tally to three goals and an assist in his last two games.

Obviously, though, Chelsea will be a big step up from those opponents, and the Clarets haven't fared too well against the top-six sides this season. They were recently thumped 4-2 by Liverpool at Anfield, were thrashed 5-0 at Manchester City, and got crushed 4-0 by Chelsea in their first meeting this season.

Premier League: sean Dyche's Burnley are set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
Burnley manager Sean Dyche on the touchline during their Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers

History

Chelsea and Burnley have met just nine times in Premier League history. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have the edge in that matchup with six wins to Burnley's one, and two draws.

Although, Chelsea haven't been as dominant as you'd expect them to be at home. Two of the three games that Burnley took points against the Blues were at Stamford Bridge, including their one win back in 2017.

Betting Tip

??

Chelsea vs Burnley Burnley Asian Handicap +1.50 @ 2.09
April 23, 03:00 (GMT+8)

SBOBET odds have a Burnley away win in the 1X2 market priced at a whopping 10.50. But while it'll be tough for Burnley to extend their current winning streak at Stamford Bridge, it might not be out of the question for them to be more competitive than the odds suggest.

For one, the question mark surrounding Hazard's health could end up working in their favour. As is the fact that Chelsea were stretched a bit more than expected by Slavia Prague in midweek, which could result in some fatigue setting in.

With those important factors in mind, taking Burnley in the Asian handicap market seems like the smart play.

Premier League: Manchester Derby with Massive Implications

Manchester United vs Manchester City

The Manchester derby is always a massive date on the Premier League fixture list. And this upcoming midweek encounter will be no different, as both teams still have plenty to play for this late into the season.

For City, they need to keep pace in the title race with Liverpool, who returned to the top of the Premier League table after beating Cardiff. And for United, they must beat their fierce rivals in order to keep their faint hopes of finishing in the top four alive.

However, United will come into the derby in absolutely horrific form, which continued with their humiliating drubbing at the hands of Everton at the weekend.

Talking Points

United in crisis

Man United's form has been steadily trending downward for some time now, and they might have finally hit rock bottom against Everton as they were thrashed 4-0 at Goodison Park over the weekend.

United's performance was so abject that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer openly questioned whether his players even care for the club, which is obviously concerning.

United have now lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions, including their last five away from home. And their two wins during that span were unconvincing home victories over Watford and West Ham.

Clearly, there aren't many -- if any -- positives to take from their recent skid. United's play has been decidedly average or worse for a couple of months now. And now they have to face their rivals, who are in the midst of a title race and will be desperate for victory.

Perhaps the only hope United fans have heading into this match is that the derby will be at home, where United have lost just once in the league this season. They also held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Old Trafford back in February. Of course, a lot has changed at United since that match.

Moreover, one would figure that the Everton thrashing -- along with the added motivation of derailing their big rivals' title hopes -- simply must coax some sort of reaction from what has been a lethargic-looking United side. But if it doesn't, it could get even worse for the Red Devils in the derby.

City in championship form

There's not much to say about Manchester City except that they're still very, very good. While their dramatic Champions League exit to Tottenham likely still stings, they did exact some semblance of revenge by beating Spurs 1-0 in the league over the weekend.

That win extended City's current Premier League winning streak to 10 straight games, and have also won 14 of their last 15. Amazing stuff from the defending champions.

City did suffer another injury blow as Kevin De Bruyne hurt his hamstring against Spurs and will miss the derby. But of course, City have the depth and the quality to cope with his absence, as they have for much of the season. Fernandinho, who hasn't started City's last three matches after suffering his own injury, should be set to return to the starting XI against United.

Fernandinho's return should help shore up City's main weakness of surrendering counter-attacks, which was once again on display in their recent trilogy against Spurs. That's clearly not good news for United, who -- in theory -- have the personnel to trouble City on the counter.

Premier League: Which team will win in the Manchester derby?
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reacts after their 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur

History

Manchester United still hold the sizable edge over City in terms of the all-time head-to-head tally. United have won 73 games, City have won 52, and there have been 52 draws.

Recent Manchester derby results have been relatively even, though. Over their last nine Premier League meetings, there have been four City wins, three United wins, and two stalemates.

And interestingly enough, the away team has enjoyed a good deal of success on derby day. Prior to Man City's 3-1 win at the Etihad back in November, the away team had won four of the last five Manchester derbies.

Moreover, City have gone unbeaten in their last three league visits to Old Trafford (two wins and a draw), and the current Manchester United vs Manchester City betting odds strongly favour them to extend that streak.

Betting Tip

??

Manchester United vs Manchester City Manchester City Asian Handicap -1.25 @ 2.03
April 25, 03:00 (GMT+8)

Logic dictates that a comfortable City win is the most likely outcome in this match. While they haven't been overwhelmingly dominant during the latter half of the season, they've consistently gotten the job done.

And in contrast, United's recent Premier League 2019 results don't inspire any confidence whatsoever. Their defence continues to be a shambles, while the attack has lost the verve it had when Solskjaer first arrived.

With all of that in mind, it's just hard to imagine United being able to stay within a goal of City. And if you happen to agree with not-so-novel that sentiment, SBOBET Asian handicap sports betting has City -1.25 priced at 2.01.

Premier League: Battling Burnley Frustrate Chelsea

Chelsea 2-2 Burnley

Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea climbed into fourth place in the Premier League tonight, but their chances of cementing a Champions League place were dashed by a stubborn Burnley resistance.

In a blistering first half, Burnley took a shock lead before Chelsea hit back with a double strike, and then the Clarets levelled again. The race for a top-four place has opened up this weekend with Arsenal losing at home to Crystal Palace and Manchester United taking a hammering at Everton.

And the latest Premier League 2019 betting odds have Chelsea and Arsenal neck and neck to claim the final Champions League place. But the Blues missed a chance to forge ahead while Burnley virtually guaranteed a fourth consecutive season in the top flight.

Highlights of the game

Chelsea often start well and they did again tonight, swarming all over their visitors. Only superb positioning from Burnley keeper Tom Heaton kept out an early

Eden Hazard shot. The Belgian came even closer moments later, but when he lifted the ball over Heaton, centre-back Ben Mee made a brilliant goal-line clearance.

The Clarets shocked Chelsea on the opening day of last season by winning 2-3, and they had won more points than the Blues in 2019, so should we really have been surprised when they went ahead?

Dwight McNeil swung a corner over, and when the headed clearance dropped onto Jeff Hendrick’s boot the Ireland international hit the sweetest volley past Kepa and into the net.

But how Chelsea responded! First, Hazard weaved his magic on the left and pulled the ball back to N’Golo Kante, who fired home the equaliser on 12 minutes. And just two minutes later, Gonzalo Higuain played a one-two on the right side of the penalty area and slammed his shot high into the net from the tightest angle.

Gonzalo Higuain frustrated with Maurizio Sarri after being substituted during their Premier League clash with Burnley
Gonzalo Higuaín scores Chelsea's second goal in the 14th minute

You can’t keep Burnley down, though, and on 24 minutes the Clarets were level again. As the ball was lobbed into the Chelsea area, Mee headed it across the box and when Chris Wood flicked it on, Ashley Barnes was left alone to convert his 11th league goal of the season.

The second half started a little quieter. Higuain had a shot easily saved by Heaton and Emerson fired a shot well wide. Then, as we approached the three-quarter mark, Cesar Azpilicueta forced Heaton into another save.

Sarri played his last card by bringing Olivier Giroud on for Gonzalo Higuain, but while Chelsea laid siege in the Burnley half, the Clarets held firm. The Blues simply couldn’t break through a resilient Clarets’ defence marshalled by Ben Mee, who blocked anything that Chelsea could throw at him.

Key statistics

Chelsea totally dominated the game tonight but the only statistics that really matter are that both sides hit the net twice and Chelsea dropped two valuable points.

Burnley came into the game bang in form with a run of three consecutive wins, the only side in the Premier League to match Manchester City and Liverpool in that respect! And the point won tonight means that the Clarets will almost certainly be in this company again next season.

This is the first of Burnley’s Monday night games to end in a draw, having won three and lost six of their previous games.

Chelsea are now in fourth place, a point ahead of Arsenal, but the Gunners do have a game in hand. The race for the Champions League is going down to the wire.

What’s next?

Well then. After another monumental weekend of Premier League 2019 results, the league table tells a story of an exciting three weeks ahead. There will be twists and turns all the way. The stakes are getting higher by the week, and you can follow all the action right here at SBOBET.

And there is another huge fixture facing Sarri’s Blues next Sunday when they head north to Old Trafford to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s beleaguered Manchester United. They need to get at least a point from that game, but the Red Devils play Manchester City in midweek and the result of that match could well determine their mood.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets can have a big say in the title race next week when they entertain Manchester City. The Champions drew at Turf Moor last season and, after watching the way Chelsea struggled to break the Clarets down, Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues will know they are in for a battle. And the Clarets beat Spurs at home recently.

Premier League: These Two Really Don’t Like Each Other!

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. Two proud football clubs but also two names which conjure loathing between rival supporters.

Both sets of supporters dislike their rivals with a passion and my word it has resulted in some fierce clashes down the years.

If you don’t believe me SBOBET fans, go to any search engine and type Spurs-West Ham rivalry.

The Premier League era has done little to ease that tension.

They may only be 12 miles apart but a rivalry stretching back to the late 1890 cannot be rewritten.

Just ask any players of yesteryear or modern day who have played for both clubs – Jimmy Greaves, Martin Peters, Les Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Jermain Defoe to name a few – to share their experiences.

Talking Points

Their meetings have produced Premier League highlights aplenty over the years and this contest could be yet another.

The importance is unlikely to be lost either on bosses Mauricio Pochettino or Manuel Pellegrini who will likely have been told about the rivalry soon after their respective appointments.

Form suggests a home banker.

West Ham’s last two outings have resulted in one point and lots of frustration.

West Ham United are aiming to produce Premier League highlights as they visit Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Manuel Pellegrini is preparing West Ham Players ahead their match against rivals Tottenham Hotspur

Only the woodwork and brilliance of David de Gea prevented them from getting at least a point at Old Trafford and they then conceded a last-gasp equaliser at home to Leicester last weekend, again a match in which they should have collected more than a point.

Three defeats and one draw in four games have possibly ruined their chances of a seventh place finish, not that Pellegrini will give up on that now Michail Antonio has returned and if the inconsistent Marko Arnautovic can show his effective side.

Spurs, meanwhile, are thriving, just edged out at champions Manchester City on Easter Saturday, days after seeing off the same opponents in a Champions League thriller.

West Ham would love to rain on Spurs’ parade and inflict a first defeat on them at their new stadium, yet even against a side missing their captain Harry Kane, they will need to improve defensively.

Since the turn of the year, the Hammers have leaked 26 goals in just 16 games, including at least two goals in each of their last six Premier League games and their record since the turn of the year is particularly poor.

Improve that and they may just cause a surprise.

History

Aside from a fierce rivalry, this is a history steeped in tradition, prestige and attacking football.

West Ham have proven a bit of a bogey for Spurs in big games over the last decade or so (both Premier League and League Cup), although you have to go back to October 2013 to the last time they defeated Tottenham on their own turf in the top flight.

On that occasion, a 3-0 win was secured by goals from Winston Reid, Ricardo Vaz Te and Ravel Morrison – remember him? - in a blistering 13 minute spell.

That remains their only league victory at Spurs since 1999 when, among the young Hammers’ line-up that day, were young guns Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard and veteran forward Ian Wright.

Spurs are chasing a treble over West Ham this term having already won twice at the London Stadium this season.

An Erik Lamela goal settled the Premier League contest in October before they repeated the victory just over a week later with a 3-1 success in the League Cup, courtesy of Son Heung-Min (two) and Fernando Llorente.

Traditionally, Spurs have won 96 of their meetings with West Ham winning 63 and the other 52 ending with honours even.

Betting Tip

??

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United First Half Asian Handicap Tottenham Hotspur -0.75 @ 2.35
April 27 19:30 (GMT+8)

Spurs are firm favourites with 1X2 odds on offer @ 1.44 in contrast to West Ham @ 7.00.

The draw @ 4.30 will appeal, however, especially with the pride of a London derby at stake and Spurs also forgiven for perhaps having one eye on their Champions League semi-final against Ajax little over 72 hours later.

Premier League betting odds with Asian Handicap also favour the home side, priced -1.25 @ 1.97, compared to the Hammers +1.00 @ 2.28.

I must admit that under 3.00 goal @ 2.07 has caught my eye, as has Double Chance West Ham or Draw @ 2.65.

It’s interesting to look at the total goal options too – 0-1 @ 5.20, 2-3 @ 2.11 and 4-6 @ 2.53.

The law of probabilities suggest Spurs will not beat West Ham three times in the same campaign, yet I do expect them to edge this.

I think they will want to try and get the game sewn up as quickly as possible too, given their upcoming semi-final.

Premier League: Manchester Derby Delight for Sky Blues

Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

Pep Guardiola took Manchester City back to the top of the table tonight with a priceless win at Old Trafford over city rivals United.

Two quick-fire goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane won the game and consigned the home side to a seventh defeat in nine games.

This was a match with huge implications for both Manchester clubs, with City chasing back-to-back Premier League titles and United desperately trying to regain some momentum in their chase for a top-four place.

The Red Devils certainly recovered some pride with a high-energy performance, but in the end, the Sky Blues’ quality was just too much.

The Premier League 2019 betting odds to win the title have swung further towards Manchester City with three games to play, but it’s going down to the wire.

Highlights of the game

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted his Manchester United are not ready to compete with the league’s elite, and may not be ready next season, either. But they started this game intent on showing that, on their day, they can take on the very best. Paul Pogba first Ederson with a low strike from distance.

The Sky Blues' top player of the 2017/18 campaign, Kevin De Bruyne, has had an injury-riddled season and missed out on the derby with a hamstring knock.

His latest absence meant a return for David Silva, who put in a superb performance, while Guardiola brought more experience into the side with Vincent Kompany at the back. But the City skipper picked up an early yellow card for a foul on Marcus Rashford.

The Sky Blues eventually got into their stride, though. Raheem Sterling almost wrong-footed David De Gea when his shot was deflected by Chris Smalling, but the Spaniard got down well to save.

For United, Pogba looked up for this game. He lobbed a beauty of a ball over for Jesse Lingard, who lifted his first-time effort wide. Bernardo Silva then tested De Gea again with a fierce shot which the United keeper beat away. And at the other end, Rashford fired a long-range effort over.

City began to take control as half-time approached. David Silva linked up brilliantly with Sergio Aguero before Raheem Sterling took over. But as he worked himself into a yard of space he shot too close to De Gea. And with the last chance of the half, Aguero fired wide as the Red Devils deservedly held out until the break.

The Sky Blues came out for the second period at a higher tempo. David Silva found Leroy Sane, whose squared ball just evaded everyone. But the Blue half of Manchester erupted on 54 minutes when Bernardo Silva cut inside Luke Shaw and fired a low shot inside De Gea’s near post.

City almost made it two a minute later, but Aguero’s shot crashed off the base of the post and flew wide.

The Red Devils were handed a good chance when Pogba was felled by Bernardo Silva just outside the penalty area. However, the Frenchman blasted his free-kick into the City defensive wall.

And then, in the blink of an eye, it was 0-2. City broke at speed as Sterling slid the ball sideways to Sane, who fired home the second. De Gea got a boot to the shot, but the sheer force took the ball into the net.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought Romelu Lukaku on, and he had a cross-shot which Ederson kept out. But the home side, loyally backed by their fans, never gave up, and that was a big improvement on their showing at Everton last weekend.

Key Statistics

With pre-match SBOBET odds pointing to an away win the outcome was no surprise, but at the break, it looked far from certain.

But two early goals in the second half made it 11 league wins on the trot for City, the best of any side in the Premier League this season.

Solskjaer has not won in his last six meetings with Manchester City, two as a manager and four as a player.

Vincent Kompany’s yellow card was his tenth in Manchester Derbies and that’s another record!

What’s next?

Red Devils’ fans were reeling from a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Everton last weekend but they won some pride back with a spirited fight against Manchester City tonight and are still in the top four race.

Next up they have another crunch match when Maurizio Sarri brings rivals Chelsea to the Theatre of Dreams. The Blues boss may be in the stands after landing an FA charge for his conduct at the end of a bad-tempered clash with Burnley on Monday night.

Manchester City’s title charge continues with a testing visit to Turf Moor where Burnley awaits. Fresh on the back of their 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, the Clarets will be plotting to give another of the big boys a bloody nose.

It promises to be another momentous weekend and we’ll be right here with all the latest Premier League 2019 updates as the season heads towards a scintillating climax.

Premier League: Is Burnley City’s Biggest Test?

Burnley vs Manchester City

The Premier League title race is hurtling towards a dramatic conclusion, with three games to go and Manchester City leading Liverpool by a solitary point.

The Sky Blues came through their most difficult game of the run-in last night, beating Manchester United at Old Trafford. But that’s over now and Pep Guardiola’s focus is on a task of a very different nature. Sunday Lunch in Burnley won’t be a picnic for the reigning champions, against a side in the image of granite hard boss Sean Dyche.

Games at home to Leicester City and a final day fixture at relegation threatened Brighton follow this test for Manchester City. But with the Clarets coming into the game pretty much safe from relegation and bang in form it could be the Champions’ biggest test.

Talking Points

It’s all in the Sky Blues’s hands

So with nine points to play for Manchester City will win back-to-back titles if they just continue their winning streak. Pep Guardiola guards against complacency though and will tell his players to expect Burnley’s long balls, fights for second balls and a serious cutting edge.

He has a team of stratospheric quality and in all conventional wisdom they have enough to see the job through. Young Phil Foden scored the only goal of the game when the Sky Blues earned a crucial home win against Spurs last week. Then he was rested in favour of David Silva in the Manchester Derby; and the Spaniard ran the show as City did their job with consummate professionalism. That win swung the Premier League 2019 betting odds firmly in the Sky Blues’ favour, and they won’t take their foot of the gas on Sunday in Burnley, so I expect Silva to start again.

After a successful Manchester Derby victory, The Sky Blues continue their journey in lifting the Premier League trophy again

Influential midfielder Fernandinho went off injured at Old Trafford so that might mean a start for Leroy Sane who came off the bench to score. And Guardiola may have a decision to make at the back. Skipper Vincent Kompany was preferred to Nicolas Otamendi in the derby, but the Argentine centre back may get the nod at Turf Moor.

A season of two halves for Burnley

The early Premier League 2019 news around the bottom end of the table spelled out doom and gloom for the Clarets, as they were entrenched in the relegation zone with just 12 points from 19 games at Christmas, suffering a 1-5 hammering at home to Everton on Boxing Day.

But since then the Clarets have earned 28 points from the next 16, enough to put them in the top six in 2019, and they have scored more goals (27) in the second half of the season than Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.

The Clarets followed up a run of three wins with a battling 2-2 draw away to Chelsea on Monday, in a game the Blues desperately needed to win, but the point for Burnley meant that they moved nine clear of the drop with three games to play, and a strong goal difference.

So what has been the difference? Well, club captain Tom Heaton returned in goal and the defence began to play as a unit again, while the emergence of 19 year old wing wizard Dwight McNeil has provided a steady supply to strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood, who have both hit double figures.

Meanwhile, with seven assists, midfielder Ashley Westwood has made a dramatic impact on an ever improving team.

History

City has already beaten Burnley twice this season by 5-0, once in the league and once in the FA Cup, but that was before the Clarets’ remarkable transformation.

And last season this game ended in a 1-1 draw when Johann Berg Gudmundsson scored a late equaliser for the Clarets after Raheem Sterling had missed a sitter at the other end.

In the 13 head to head games played since 2001, the Sky Blues have won nine while Burnley has won just one and drawn three, and with an 11 match winning streak I’d expect the visitors to make it 12 and end Burnley’s latest unbeaten run of four.

Betting Tip

Burnley vs Manchester City Burnley Asian Handicap +2.25 @ 1.91
April 28, 21:05 (GMT+8)

The latest SBOBET odds would see anything other than a Manchester City win as an epic shock, with Burnley at 15.50, the draw at 6.20 and City at 1.18.

But against similar long odds the Clarets drew away to Manchester United as well as Chelsea, and recently ended Spurs’ title aspirations with a 2-1 win at Turf Moor.

The most likely score is 0-2 at 6.20 and Pep Guardiola would be delighted with that. Expect a tough battle with the Sky Blues to squeeze through by one or two goals.

Premier League: Gunners Need to Improve Their Aim!

SBOBET.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Arsenal-goalkeeper-Bernd-Leno.jpg" />

Leicester City vs Arsenal

Unai Emery takes his Arsenal team to the Kingpower Stadium on Sunday for a crucial Premier League clash against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester; and they need to rediscover their killer instinct.

In a four way race for two Champions League places, Arsenal have fluffed their lines over the last week, losing two very winnable games. And when I say they need the killer instinct that applies to their defenders just as much as their strikers.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been leading a talented and incisive attack at the Emirates and is in with a great chance of winning the Golden Boot, joint top with Sergio Aguero and Mo Salah at the last count. But the Gunners’ defence has been leaky to say the least, shipping six goals in the last two games. And they will come up against a Leicester City side playing with vibrancy since the arrival of Rodgers, and the Foxes’ strikers are in fine form too.

Let’s take a closer look at the details to inform our Leicester vs Arsenal predictions and try to hit the bull’s-eye with our tips!

Talking Points

The Rodgers factor

After losing his opening game in charge, a run of .com/predicting-premier-league-races-play/" target="_blank">four wins for Rodgers’ Foxes put them right in the hunt for seventh place. But defeat to an improving Newcastle, followed by a draw with unpredictable West Ham, has left them in tenth place, only three points behind seventh placed Wolves in the hunt for a Europa League place.

The former Liverpool boss has inherited a squad rich in talent, but one which started to look a little stale in the last few matches of Claude Puel’s unpopular reign. But they have found their Mojo back. Powerful midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is in the running for the Nigerian Pitch Awards after another impressive season. He’s a threat driving forward from midfield and not afraid to put his foot in, picking up seven yellow cards in the current campaign.

And Jamie Vardy has been a big beneficiary of Rodgers’ arrival at the Kingpower; the tactical tweaks made by the new boss have seen a real upturn in the former England striker’s fortunes. He had scored just nine goals in the season under Puel but has added seven in the seven games since the change at the helm.

Arsenal’s nightmare week

Nobody seems to want the normally coveted fourth place, which was once the annual right of the Gunners during Arsene Wenger’s long reign. Arsenal fans have watched Spurs lose, Manchester United lose twice and Chelsea draw at home to Burnley in the last few days. So how frustrating must it have been to watch their own side follow up defeat to Crystal Palace with a capitulation away to Wolves, where they were 3-0 down at the break, before big defender Sokratis headed a late consolation. If only he and his colleagues had been so efficient in defence.

Sokratis has picked up ten yellow cards this season though, so I guess you have to admire his commitment, if not his timing!

The Gunners won a difficult game at Watford before those back to back defeats, but they needed a big hand from .com/premier-league-deeney-watford-down/" target="_blank">Troy Deeney, the Hornets’ skipper, who got himself sent off in the 11th minute. Arsenal’s problems for most of the season have been away from home and they won’t be relishing this trip to the Kingpower.

They may be without Aubameyang, who missed the defeat at Molineux with a sinus problem, and Emery is also sweating on the fitness of key midfield player Aaron Ramsay, who picked up a hamstring niggle in a Europa League win over Napoli.

History

Arsenal has won 16 games to Leicester’s two in the 25 head-to-head fixtures since 1994, and they won the return match 3-1 at the Emirates in October, Aubameyang scoring twice and Mesut Ozil putting in a man-of-the-match performance. How Emery would love to see those two writing the Premier League 2019 news headlines again this weekend.

During the last 12 meetings with Leicester playing at home, The Foxes have won twice and there have been six draws; while Arsenal has won four times with a goal difference of 21-14 in favour of the Gunners.

But there’s no denying that Arsenal’s away form has been pretty woeful for a potential top four side, winning just six of 17 away games.

Arsenal is the marginal favourite to win this game at odds of 2.55; with Leicester at 2.67 and the draw at 3.30. But one thing I think we can be certain of is goals.

Leicester’s resurgence under Rodgers and Arsenal’s undoubted talent, not to mention its erratic defence, is sure to provide plenty of entertainment; and I don’t expect us to wait long for the scoreboard to start moving.
